If Coley decides to take his talents to South Beach it will have huge impact on how FSU closes this recruiting cycle.
Why would Coley leave Tallahassee for Miami? Because Jimbo wont let him call plays

Hmmm. I realize that SWAC is no one's dream job (even that auctioneer they've dressed up as a head coach was looking around), but why would any leave the relatively stable situation they have in Tallahassee for the impending dumpster fire that is Miami?

Huge, HUGE downgrade for scUM to go from Fisch to Coley.

Things that can be problems for most teams - loss of coordinators, key players declaring for the draft or graduating, etc. - mean nothing to the SemiHoles with the schedules they play. What other school in the country would hire a career high school assistant as their DC? None. Only FSU. Why FSU? Because they don't need any coordinators to beat Wake, Duke, UVA, BC, etc.

good luck to anybody trying to pull south FLorida kids with Coley & Cristobal working for Miami. Miami should close well this year and the talent next recruiting cycle is amazing in south Florida.

How is it they will finish top 15 in recruiting at least?

I am not sure but they have some good talent already committed and kids they are going after for the most part were choosing between Miami and FSU. All the FSU coaches are now gone and they can say the sanctions are not going to be that bad.
If Miami finishes with Coley, Collins, Thomas Bostwick, Kirkland Grace they will take a big jump in the rankings.

Coley definitely helps Miami with Collins, but hurts FSU with Green. Whatever minimum amount of help with Green will be utilized by our coaches, I am sure.

Coley will receive a significant bump in salary of more than $100,000, according to a source who said the Hurricanes offered Coley $500,000. Coley was offered the offensive coordinator position at Kentucky in December but turned it down.
I thought scUM was broke now that Uncle Nevin is on vacation in the Graybar Motel and they have a string of ex-coaches they're paying not to coach.
How are they paying Coley $500k per year? What were they paying Fisch?

I remember when we got beaten by FSU Meyer came out claiming that we were going to, "Turn this thing around. We were going to do it with recruiting." Or something ridiculous like that. Then he stepped down, our class (that had been ranked as high as 3rd or 4th) got blown apart, we watched FSU bring in everybody they wanted to, they had already made a habit of taking players committed to us and flipping them (even under Meyer), and Rivals even went so far as to say they (the Noles) had the best recruiting staff in the country. It was somewhat of a dark moment following signing day.
My goodness...a lot sure can happen in two years. :whoa:

I hope like hell Jimbo regrets letting him get away and that Coley calls the game of his life when they play. Jimbo has a lot to learn and is not picking up the job of HC like WM is.

That Florida class was till top 10 but most of it is gone. FSU's best football is ahead of them IMO. I think James Winston is going to be special. Those DLmen will be good in the next few years as well. Their problem is the Oline and the LB core. They need to get rid of Trickett. The new staff they have can will recruit well. It just going to be hard for anyone to beat Miami in South Florida.

They've always had an elite DL, even in down years. The OL will continue to be their downfall.

I am not as sure that Miami, simply by bringing in some new coaches, are going to get a lock down on south Florida.
They are facing an ongoing NCAA investigation that should result in severe penalties based on the recidivist nature of the program.
They aren't able to make it through a decade without violations and the boom may be lowered at any time.
That's alot more of a negative recruiting tool than pointing to Cristobal and Coley dancing around and saying, "don't you just love these new coaches!!".
I would be shocked if Miami landed in this year's final top 10 recruiting classes.
They aren't even in the Rivals top 50 as I type this post.

Lock down? They have always had and always will have a significant advantage in SoFla (particularly Dade). These additions don't really change that at all.

It's what I have been saying the past few years about UF... a constant coaching carousel on the staff, especially coordinators. It's the main reason why we struggled so badly in 2010 and 2011. There was no staff continuity at all.
Either you have to have a superb HBC/administrator who knows how to lessen the impact of such losses, or you suffer the consequences with poor play on the field from a team that is witnessing this and has lost confidence in it's own coaching staff.
I'm guessing that Jimbo Fisher is no Will Muschamp when managing these kids of mass staff changes, especially judging by his poor replacements. I honestly believe Fisher is going to be on the hot seat at the end of the 2013 season over in tally when the Gators thump FSU in Gainesville.

If the NCAA is spineless and backs down from serious enforcement action against scUM, I think we should mend our bridges with Aubrey Hill and get him back on staff. We might not win all the recruiting battles with scUM, but we would get some talent out of south Florida.

I presume the Canes told him the NCAA imploded on their investigation of the "U" and there won't be anything to worry about if he comes down.
Their recruiting might pick up as South Beach is too hard to turn down even if there were NCAA penalties or sanctions. Now it looks like it's years away if ever.
Jimbo must be into major melt down now to keep his current class together.

Hmmm, well, I totally respect you on the recruiting front, but as for inside FSU football?
FSU's best football being ahead of them is dpeendent upon one major factor... strength of schedule, or a lack there-of. It's the only reason they got 12 wins this past season.
They have talent and pretty good facilities, but at this time, I don't see any steady continuity in their program for the next year at least because of the mass exodus on their coaching staff. That's gonna hurt them next season, and personally, I believe Fisher will be on the hot seat within the next couple of season over in tally.

I think FSU had a staff full of recruiters that weren't very good coaches. All those guys that left got promotions because the other teams needed better recruiting. Jimbo runs the offense so that wont change. On the defensive side of the ball Pruitt is a unknown but the Bama people swear he was next inline for the D coordinator job if Smart left. I dont think continuity is going to hurt them that much. But again what is going to hurt them is Trickett being their Oline coach.
I dont think FSU is going to anything special but playing in the ACC they can continue to win 10-12 games a year. The X factor for winning big games is James Winston.

Agree completely that SOS pretty much gives them 9-10 wins going in, it's only the other 2-3 games (UF, Clemson, maybe VTech depending on the year) that determine the outcome of their season barring more NCStates. But to a much lesser extent it also will depend on how soon they come up with an effective starting QB.
As you know, this will be the first season in several years that they won't be going into the season with an experienced, reasonably capable starting QB. Clint Trickett has a little experience from the 2011 season and IIRC did well in the game where he came in off the bench and then stunk up the field in one of his several starts. There's at least two others whose names I don't care to look up but one is a freshman and I don't think the other has played at all - kind of like what we've gone through since Tim left.
What's the word in Tally? Is it Trickett's job to lose or is it an open competition?

The loss of Coley is a MASSIVE recruiting loss for FSU, especially when you consider they've already lost Eddie Gran. They were their top two recruiters, and Coley was intimately connected in south Florida.
FSU had their short, 2 year run while UF went through a coaching carousel and will now drop back down a solid level again IMO.
