We still had Earnest Graham starting at RB in 2002.

I think Fason's 2004 year was better than any Earnest Graham year. And Gillislee in 2012 is better than any of his as well.

Rating whole teams:
Top 3
1)2008 (the best Florida team ever by a large margin, I'd take 2008 Florida post-Q3 in v. Arkansas over just about any college team in history).
2) 2006 (Defensively devastating)
3) 2009 (Missed Opportunities- losing Mullen was devastating, Dunlap being a moron prior to the SEC title game kept us from winning 3 titles in 4 years- that and the worst reffing I've ever seen including the Swindle- Bama could have just tackled our D-line and it only be a hold 1 out of 10 times).
After this its a bit of a mish-mash depending on what one values (defense 2012 offense 2007)-- Actually 2012 vs. 2007 would be an epic matchup.

I think I totally just failed at grasping the aim of this thread. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111107003558/runescape/images/1/1f/Emoticon-Facepalm.gif

I'm not sure I understand your comparison. Is it just random Gator greats from the last 10-11 years?

I hate to hijack your thread, but it would be worse to start a nearly identical one. So, let's look at year 2 Zook 2003 vs. year 2 Muschamp 2012:

QB Leak vs. Driskel
RB Carthon vs. Gillislee
FB Latsko (Fr walk-on) vs. Joyer
TE Troupe vs. Reed
WR Kight vs Hammond
WR Perez vs. Dunbar
RT Lance Butler vs. Green
RG Billy Griffin vs. Halapio
C DeGory vs. Harrison
LG Snell vs. Wilson
LT Starks vs. Nixon

DE Darryl Lee vs. McCray
DT Kenny Parker vs. Easley
DT RayMac (freshman) vs. Floyd
DE Bobby McCray vs. Dante Fowler
SLB Crowder vs. Taylor
MLB Fleming vs. Bostic
WLB Everett (freshman) vs. Jelani
CB Ratliff vs. Roberson
CB Johnny Lamar vs. Purifoy
S Gus Scott vs. Elam
S Daryl Dixon vs. Josh Evans

P Wilbur (as a freshman) vs. Christy
PK Matt Leach vs. Sturgis
KO Matt Piotrowicz vs. Sturgis

Choose wisely. 2003 went 8-5, losses to Miami (Away), UT (home), Ole Miss (home vs. Eli), FSU (The Swindle in the Swamp) and Iowa in the Outback Bowl (Vernell Brown's double reverse disaster.)

RB in 2003 was split almost evenly between Carthon, Fason & Deshawn Wynn

There were also other young guys who would later win a NC - Dallas Baker, Cornelius, Caldwell, etc.

Kelvin Kight and Carlos Perez...smh...maybe the slowest starting WR tandem in Florida history. Perez does have that bubble screen against UGA though

No way Fason is better than Gillislee. And a senior, Henry, against a sophomore rates a toss-up, IMHO. But Ray Mac over Floyd is too close to call.

Have you checked the stats?

C4 had a full yard per carry better in his final year as the feature back (5.7 vs. 4.7 for Gilly.)

C4 gained 115 more yards in one less game, 17 yards better per game.

C4 had 104 more yards receiving and more than twice as many receptions.

Even so, I don't think I can say either was significantly better than the other. Neither had great OLines blocking, but both hit the hole hard and cut well. C4 ran too high but so did Gilly at times. Each had one breakout year. Neither is in the top 10 of career rushing yardage.

I think they'll fall pretty close to each other on the all-time list.

Different line, different coach, different teams and different schemes equals different results. But you will see Gilly playing in the league longer than Fason did, if that's a fair way to compare them.

But, you're right, they we both pretty close in talent while at UF.

Reminds what what rough year 2002 was. We still somehow managed to handle Tennessee though.

I think you're right about Gilly & the NFL. C4 lasted just 2 years and had almost no impact. Gilly runs lower & smarter.

Isn't Keiwan to RFN comparing corner to free safety? I'm enjoying the comparisons and the trip down memory lane but I would have preferred more apples to apples for this one.

You keep shifting years and teams.

2002-2012 QB: Rex vs. Driskel
2003-2012 QB: Leak vs. Driskel (Leak started most of the way and never looked back once given the chance)

Unfortunately I think Jeff comes out on the short end of both comparisons, but not by much.
