No idea how to fill that spot. Might as well be the best so who would you guys like to see if we don't find one in house?

I would like a DL coach who can coach special teams. If CWM were going to hire just a special teams coach then he should hire the man in the orange pants.

I'm sure coach will do a good job in choosing our next coach.

Coach Vernon Hargreaves II - here are some of his qualifications/achievements.

His special teams supervision certainly provided East Carolina with a significant shot in the arm as the Pirates finished with a No. 13 national rank in kickoff return average in 2007. Hargreaves also added the final polish to Chris Johnson's storied career, which enabled the electrifying senior to earn first-team All-America honors and complete the 2007 campaign as one of the country's top return specialists.

In addition, he provided a steady and guiding hand to ECU's kicking game that produced pressure-packed game-winning field goals against North Carolina and Boise State - arguably the Pirates' two biggest triumphs of the season - during his first year. Hargreaves oversaw two overtime three-pointers a year later in 2008 that enabled ECU to defeat UCF and Marshall in successive weeks before kicker Ben Hartman delivered the C-USA Championship Game clincher against Tulsa on a 36-yarder with 1:43 to play.

In all, the Pirates completed the '08 season ranked 10th nationally in net punting average (37.9 ypp) while Hartman stood second among all FBS placekickers with a 1.91 field goals per game average.

More on Hargreaves. He could also be one hell of a recruiter down in Dade County.

Prior to a brief stint at Bowling Green State University and a one-year stay at Florida International where he coached Lombardi Award nominee Keyonvis Bouie, Hargreaves enjoyed a successful eight-year tenure at Miami from 1998 to 2005. While with the Hurricanes, he is credited with molding some of the nation's finest linebackers, including 2000 Butkus Award winner Dan Morgan and 2004 first-round draft choices Jonathan Vilma and D.J. Williams, as well as playing a key role in developing the UM defense into one of the nation's top units over a five-season span under head coaches Butch Davis and Larry Coker.

A member of his linebacking unit served as the 'Canes top tackler for six consecutive years, and in 2003, Hargreaves shaped a unit that produced two of the 11 semi-finalists for the Butkus Award. From 2000 to 2005, the Miami defense stood among the nation's top 10 statistical leaders on 20 occasions in five different categories, which included No. 1 ranks in scoring defense (2001), pass defense (2002, 2003, 2005), pass efficiency defense (2001, 2002, 2005) and turnover margin (2001).

Ron Zook

I hear Urban Meyer is a decent ST coach. Besides, he's due for a heart attack sometime next year and may need some time off.

I say a no go for Dooley. I couldn't fathom a Gator coach with that last name.

I wish we could get zook. One of the best recruiting coaches out there.

Need someone great at st and is a great recruiter. Emphasis on recruiter. Zook would be a good choice, knows st's and is a relentless recruiter and knows sec football. Not sure if bridge has been burnt though.

^Zook would be ideal from a recruiting perspective and for being familiar with the SEC--but as you said, that bridge might have been burnt with Foley terminating him early and the fanbase never warming to him as our coach.

I can hear zook saying it now after we give up several long KO/punt returns: "it's correctable".

Sure. Ron Zook probably wants to return to a place where 90% of the fanbase wanted his head on a platter. A place where an infamous website bearing his name once existed, and where he would constantly be reminded of what he once had.

Seems logical

This is the area Zook returned to after the Illinios gig, lives not too far from Gainesville and seems content.
Ace recruiter, knows the area, and is considered a special teams wizard.
The big question is would CWM be comfortable with him.

True but don't forget there are lots of lakes near Gville and if he's reminded to stay away from rowdy frat parties we might have a chance. O and we need to keep him from speeches and interviews and can never say the words "it's correctable". With that said, who knows....

Well he certainly would not feel threatened one would have to assume.

A bigger question for Zook's return is did the frat boys graduate yet?

Gatorrick22, great posts on Hargreaves, makes me think people just don't read these threads anymore since no one replied or quoted you, all this yapping about Zook instead.

Love the info you put out and seems like the perfect blend of recruiter, LB and ST coach.

CWM already knows who the coach is going to be. I just have a hard time seeing him leave Young to deal with the whole Dline. I like the idea of Travis Jones or VH3. I would choose Jones.

I've been really impressed with his coaching career, and of course his son's development as a player, which I'm sure his dad VH2 had a lot to do with. But what really caught my attention to him was an article on TOS that talked about FSU having real interest in hiring him to coach in Tallahassee.

At first I thought they were just trying to hire him to get VH3 to sign with the Seminoles, but the more I read into VH2's background the more I realized that he's a bonafide coach that would be an asset to any D-1 team, not just for his experience as a coach, but also for his experience as a recruiter. He's a Dade county insider with real cred..

Thanks for the props too. I certainly appreciate it.

Foley gave him a shot and made him rich for life. The fans on the other hand....some were a little harsh.
