http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/recruit-decommits-usc-lane-kiffin-pulls-scholarship-three-165651928--ncaaf.html

I hope future recruits read about this. This guy can't coach worth a lick, but he sure as hell can recruit. However, if this gets him bad press in recruiting, which I hope it will, he's done.

Redlands (Calif.) East Valley High School and USC coach Lane Kiffin are at odds thanks to a deferred scholarship.

Defensive end Kylie Fitts, a four-star recruit Rivals ranked seventh nationally at his position, was committed to USC and took extra high school classes so he could graduate early and enroll at the university in January.

Fitts talked to a couple USC coaches at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 5 and they said they were ready to have him on campus. But the following Monday, he received a call saying his scholarship was no longer available for the spring semester.

Fitts was supposed to be on campus on Jan. 10.

The Trojans didn't pull his scholarship entirely, but deferred him to the fall. However, since Fitts had already graduated high school, he had nowhere to go and didn't want to wait.

“Recruiting man, it’s crazy,” Redlands East Valley coach Kurt Bruich told the Riverside Press-Enterprise. “He’s wanted to go to USC for as long as he can remember and now he feels betrayed. He did everything he was supposed to do from his end and he was a loyal kid. I think they thought because of that loyalty he’d still want to go there. He said to me ‘What am I supposed to do for the next five months?’ It seems shady. I think it seems shady to everyone.”

Consequently, Fitts, who was recruited and offered by several major programs around the country, has decommitted from the Trojans and opened up his recruiting.

Bruich told the Riverside Press-Enterprise that Notre Dame, Washington and UCLA were all back in the mix.

The whole scenario has caused some consternation between Bruich, who runs one of the better programs in the state, and USC. Bruich even took to Twitter on Friday to express his feelings about USC and specifically coach Lane Kiffin.

Recruiting issues like this happen everywhere, but this isn’t exactly the kind of publicity USC needs right now, especially on the heels of an underachieving season, which resulted in a bowl loss to Georgia Tech and a 7-6 record.

I feel bad for the kid. As for Kiffin, the trail he's leaving is really pretty amazing.

Why would it be unavailable now but available in the fall?

USC is on sanctions they have to stay at 75 scholarships or under at all times.

They also have per year limits and probably could only count a certain number of EE's back to next year. Knowing Lane, he probably couldn't count that high and flubbed it.

Reeks more of incompetence than shadiness. I'm sure he was the lowest early entry recruit on their board and was told to wait.

This is pathetic. If I'm a player, I stay as far away from this buffoon as I possibly can.

Lane is a pos and won't make it past next year. His daddy is gone and so is the legacy that is Lane. How his wife puts up with him is the real question. Almost makes you wonder if the money is her main.....never mind.

When McQuay commited, there was no room at the inn. So they booted the guy they wanted least.

I doubt this will sit well with California recruits. How can they claim to be the best in the nation, while getting one of their own kicked to the curb, so a Florida recruit can have their spot.

Socal has first choice of all the California kids, and still would prefer Florida players when ships get tight.

Don't expect the Cal kids to like it.

So freaking obvious what happened there and there's no way around it. They screwed that kid after he busted his hump to be there at a specific time that Kiffin thought would help him most. Turned out they didn't have room for him there because they got other kids to do the same thing that they wanted more.
Super douche move by Kiffin, but really, don't you have to look at this recruit and say,"What the hell did you expect from this known sack of feces?!!!?".

This is exactly the type of dick Kiffin has been his whole cheating, no-account, career.
He screwed an entire university. What makes you think he even blinked before he screwed a single recruit?

You're right, I didn't realize how many high level recruits they had this year. A four star is pretty amazing at any school. So while I admit Lane is a damn good snake oil salesman, he can't do $hit with the product.

Thanks for the article. Some of us aren't necessarily "obsessed" but have a pretty good hate of Kiffen. It was a good article and I don't know why anyone would be upset with you posting it here.

Would like to see some of those 5* kids wake up to the train wreck that is going to be USC and pull their commitment at the LAST possible second to screw Lane.

Here is my angst with Kiffy...

WHEREVER he has gone....WHEREVER he has coached... it has been a trainwreck.
Look at his history:

Al Davis could not wait to get rid of him.
He totally... and without question... put Tennessee's program back years.
Just THAT one coaching job by him and Orgeron is all one needs to see.

Check out the details... the timeline, so to speak at what Kiffy did, how he acted and what he said the whole time he was in Knoxville.

It was flat-out embarassing to the Tennessee people. I have no affection for the Hillbillies and their first cousins. I have no connections to anyone up there. But even though I have no negativity toward them...
I still was dumbfounded at the way in which Kiffy carried himself with his arrogancy and bratiness.
The "NewKeys" situation was just ONE incident... wow....

Over and over again, in different and varied situations, he showed his narcisstic attitudes to the radio and prinit media... the Vol fans and anyone else that he could work his magic on.
Many of us here on this board... actually felt sorry for the Volunteer fanbase.

Obviously, Kiffy is smart and knows a bit about coaching football.
But the way he handles his day to day dealings with people, I could not, would not, ever have him as our coach.

Urban was cold, smart and calculating as a hired coach...
For Kiffy... it's all about Kiffy.
Just take a look at one of his pressers... his mannerisms... the look in his eyes...
All of us have met waaay too many people in our lives who are that way.
You grow up with them, thinking that they are your friends... but in the end, its all about them...

Doesn't matter how old they get, they never connect with you in a deeper level... no emotion. They are bratty, self-centered and shall we say, sociopathic.
And that's the defintion of the sociopath... they have very little-- or no conscience.
They can do whatever they want... and not feel one bit sorry about it.

So...seeing Kiffy going down in flames like a German bomber over the English Channel...
Yea... I am cool with that...
I am sure that Kylie Fitts and the entire Vol Nation feel the same way...
