I'm not a Stephen A. Smith fan but I pretty much agree with him. I havent seen Peter in years but this was a dumb move imo.
That being said, the only other issue I have is how Smith continues to say Tebow can't throw; even to the extent of saying he couldn't throw himself out of a bar. Thats just ridiculous.

We all know that Elway sabotaged Tebow's career in Denver. I saw it and read it in all the Denver forums/blogs. Even the people of Denver saw it and knew it.
Peter was exactly right, but he shouldn't have said it.

I for one like Stephen A. Smith. Can he come off as a douche at times? Sure. One thing about him though is that he's going to be 100 percent honest with his opinions. No beating around the bush. This goes for all athletes not just Tim. I wish Tim all the best in his future as I can say that I've played against him at a passing tournament in Georgia when I was in High School with several other top high schools and I'm very sure he can throw himself out of a bar with no problem...hell he even threw with his right hand.

I think most of the posters are missing the big picture: We had a good/great year of rookie QBs and two weeks of intriguing playoff games and ESPN spends airtime to play out an old discussion about Tebow. It proves that Tim still has IT and that some team will want the press. I just hope it is better than what the Jets gave back.
And remember, as long as Tim gets all of the yakking...while collecting an NFL paycheck, then all is well.

It's pretty simple: Tim isn't the best thrower, but he is a winner. Does that make him an optimal QB for every team? No. But should someone give him a chance to turn them into a winner? Yes.

I have yet to see Steven A. Smith talk for more than two or three minutes without turning the topic into some kind of race issue.
He's inflammatory on purpose not to make a point, but for ratings.
Only thing missing from most of his shows are Jerry Springer guests throwing chairs.
He's fully invested in hating on Tebow but would be his greatest supporter if he was black.
That's the part I hate.

That's because Stephen A Smith is down with the cause; just like Jamele Hill. I think Smith calls Hoge before going on because he doesn't know shit about football. Hell, he hardly knows basketball.

To say that the Broncos did right by Tebow is a joke.
Elway did everything possible to sabotage his ability to start and win including dumping their top wide receiver the week before Tebow finally got to start.
Tebow won despite their shenanigans and the fans in Denver knew it. They demanded that front office play Tebow because it was so patently obvious he was better than that retread piece of crap they had in there (Orton).
I never saw a front office so happy/quick to jump from developing a first round draft choice who was winning games as Elway did when Manning became available.
Manning is a great QB, don't get me wrong, but if that's all it took to win a Super Bowl Manning and Brady would simply meet in the finals every year.
It takes team chemistry and a winner at Qb and nobody will ever convince me that Manning has more of that intangible than Tebow does.
Quite the opposite actually...according to the history of both of their careers.
Denver didn't do squat for Tebow. He gave them the only reason they won last year and the most exciting thing to watch in the entire NFL.
I also don't believe they gave him a choice of where he was going either. Tebow himself denied this at the time of the trade, and I seriously doubt his brother Peter would have gloated over Denver's loss had it all been so cozy and beneficial for Tim in Denver.

Here's my thoughts trying to be as unbiased as possible. Denver made the right choice to bring manning in; almost any team would've. The problem I had was the public criticism that Elway have towards Timto the media. Here's the leader of your team, like it or not, the QB is the leader and you're constantly ragging on him in public. Would it have been so difficult to stand by him 100%? Had Elway not done that, Tim would've stayed if they let him and would've sat behind Manning to gain the knowledge and experience. Instead Elway made the comments and Tim wanted to go to a team where he felt wanted. So the broncos were nice enough to give him the pick and he chose the Jets. Not sure why he chose them but he did. The fans loved him and they still do. The Tebow haters aren't really mad at Tebow, they're mad at themselves for what can only be explained as jealousy. Tebow may not be your MVP candidate QB when it comes to numbers but i'd take him in my locker room and on my team any day. I'm not sure who the team is right now but somebody will pick him up and I truly believe he will flourish when given his next opportunity.

If it had been my brother, I would have morphed a picture of Elway's teeth onto the Bronco logo making people wonder why didn' they take that poor horse to the dentist, and caption it with a "Happy Now Mr. Ed" underneath.
And wore it like the love for a brother, it is.
Only problem I have with this is the apology. Perhaps to the fans, never to Elway.

Peter Tebow displayed a lack of class and Stephen A was spot on with his argument. I'm sure Tim was embarrassed by his brother's dumb post. Probably 50% of the Bronco fans who were heartbroken on Sunday are still Tebow fans. To mock them like that was uncool and unbecoming of a "christian".

If you missed it- someone earlier said Peter apoligized. We all do dumb things in the heat of the moment- and we all are a little defensive of our family members.
I agree it was not the right thing for Peter Tebow to do but I can understand how it happened.

I disagree that it lacked class. This is a brother who isn't looking to make friends with a fan base, he's obviously reacting to how poorly Denver treated his sibling.
I also suspect it was pure class that kept Tebow from publicly calling Denver and Elway out for what a dick he was the entire time Tim was with that stupid organization. Tim said at the time he was traded that he absolutely did not get to pick where he went and wasn't consulted about it. I don't know why Denver keeps getting credit for being so gracious to Tebow in regards to that trade. Again, I have never ever seen Tebow say a disparaging word about anyone so it doesn't surprise me that he didn't call Elway a bald faced liar when they said his preference was given weight.
The fact is Tebow said he wasn't involved in the process and I believe him over anyone with the Bronco organization.
I also doubt Manning supporters can really prove with wins and losses that Peyton was/is far superior to Tebow. His playoff record in particular reeks of being a loser with happy feet just like when he played at Tennessee. If I'm not mistaken he has lead his teams in the playoffs 12 different years with 9 of those years ending in a loss the first time he got on the field....pathetic.
From everything I witnessed, it seemed like Elway just got Tim out of Denver because he didn't want someone taking his place in fans hearts. He certainly did everything he could to prevent Tim from being successful then tried to take credit for his success after he couldn't stop the magic.
First time in the history of the NFL that a team dumped its first round QB pick within two years of drafting him to replace him with a significantly higher salary and a surgically repaired dude arguably past his prime.

I find it amusing that the same people who say fans don't have a clue what goes on behind closed doors and in practice should trust the coaching staff (I agree with this for this most part)..are overly critical of his brother and defend the Denver organization.
Isn't it possible if not likely that he knows more about the actions that really transpired last year and that was what drove his twitter remarks?
I mean...this is the first negative remark from the tebow family. Maybe it was in fact driven by information about elway and staffs' true handling of the whole situation?
