Hi guys

This post is not intended to start an argument. I am self employed and looking for affordable medical insurance. My wife told me it would be very expensive to add me to her policy, so I'm looking for other alternatives. Anyone in the business or can recommend options?

Thanks and Go Gators!

United Healthcare has some pretty affordable short-term policy options that have surprisingly good coverage. Long-term options are also good. Have had them for several years and have good things to say about them. Have had two different healthcare options in that time with different firms--and both times, my policy was cheaper and had identical or superior coverage.

Also know many people who have good things to say about Blue Cross Blue Shield.

There are a lot of options for a wide range of customers/needs. For the relatively healthy types I recommend HSAs. They are basically high deductible policies that you can save against. We have Anthem Keycare Healthsmart and we think it is the best value out there.

It probably depends on where you live on which company has the best prices and networks. I agree with tegator80 wrt the HSA with one caveat. You need to fund it.

Here are two non traditional options...
