Doubt they lose many, but what's worse, having a recruit sign somewhere else or having players transferring once there already their? We seem to have a problem with the latter!

Notre Dame was overrated this year and fortunate to go 12-0, but the athletes they are bringing in with this recruiting class are far better than what they have now, especially in the secondary. I think they'll maintain their class and be a real threat in a few years.

01-08-2013, 07:24 AM
When they hired Kelly, I knew they were getting a good coach. I think they will do well but they need to start playing teams that don't stink and they definately don't need to join the ACC. They will just keep getting blown out in MNC games. They should have been 10-2 and never have been in the MNC in the first place. The refs handed them the Stanford and Pitt games.
orangeblueorangeblue
01-08-2013, 08:23 AM
They might lose one, maybe two.
These single games tend to have very little impact. At this point the recruits have put in a lot of time thinking about this stuff, so suddenly losing (when you were the biggest underdog in recent history) is not going to change much.
LimeyGator
01-08-2013, 08:48 AM
I'm not worried. Oklahoma, Michigan, USC, Stanford won't all lay eggs against ND again next year. Their time has been and gone and they blew it.
In fact, they blew reeeeeeal hard.

FWIW, Notre Dame's class is ranked anywhere between #1 and #4 across various "expert" sites. UF's class is comparable, if not better than Notre Dame's. Bama's class is better than both, though they already lost a lineman, possibly because of the dominant win.

Recruits only waver when they realize they are not the only guy signed at their position. Some guys don't like competition, some do...but most guys honor their comittment. Guys who transfer our see the handwriting on the wall or have problems fans are unware of. Transfers creat room on the roster...sad to see some leave but sobeit!

I think people overestimate the impact a loss has on a recruits opinion of a school. One bad loss should not even come close to swaying the opinion of a recruit, not one that I would want at least.

You will see a fallout in the 2014 class when they lose at 3 and perhaps 5 games in 2013 and the hype of their reemergence fades away.

As for Anzalone, the fever pitch in this state for ND over the last month has been pretty strong.
They got kicked in the mouth last night, but after the Sandusky debacle and the Steelers and Eagles collapse, these people will cling to anything positive.

Completely disagree!!!! No kid is going to switch from Notre Dame because of that game.
VERY few recruits make their decisions based on a single game and the one's who do are probably not guys a school really wants anyway!
Believe it or not, most of the commitments any school has now were earned before the season started. Kids may not have verbally committed yet, but most probably had a really good idea where they were going to commit. The recruits that are going to be swayed by this year's results is the class of 2014.
Both Notre Dame and UF are likely to see the results of the season have a very positive influence on kids in next year's class. Notre Dame and UF will not see any negative impact from the bowl losses but will both benefit significantly from having 12 and 11 win seasons.

I guess we all can sit here and speculate...however only time will tell!!
In all my years of following recruiting, I don't think I can EVER remember seeing or hearing a recruit de-commit from a school because of a loss, especially from a team playing playing for the NC or in a BCS bowl. It might have happened somewhere at some time, but I don't remember it.
But I have seen un-committed recruits commit after a big win, but that's more of a tie breaker as opposed to something that changed a kid's mind. But even that's pretty rare.

I was curious. Why would (a major head coach) leave the Country during the final month leading up to National Signing Day. Makes no sense, if he's staying at Notre Dame.
from ESPN.com
Kelly met with the Eagles on Tuesday, and there was mutual interest after the interview, according to league sources. Kelly left the country after meeting with the Eagles and could not be reached for comment.
What?
