Gun deaths are gradually decreasing:

Also of note from the above link, only 323 of the 8,583 gun deaths are from assault rifles.

Violent Crime is down 50% in the last 20 years:

Most of the violent crime come from large Metropolitan areas:

England and Wales has a violent crime rate of over 3x more than United States:

Lead in gasoline, I believe you're referencing. Joking aside, what do you think accounts for it? Maybe it's the proliferation of passive video games. Or more minorities.
