View Full Version : Ship numbers update???

Where is Fox with his great spreadsheet?
Best I can recall...
13 SRs
4 NFL Jumps
6 Transfers (and counting): Mann, Bailey, Saunders, Patchen, Brissett & Johnson
7 Open ships under the 85 limit (Was 77, but then Garcia took one ship)
That is 30 total open ships for 2013. The SR Class next year will have 16 if I recall and there will be the normal 2-4 transfers/medical etc. So while I don't expect us to take 30 players in this class, I would like to confirm the my numbers.
I would not be surprised to see more transfers include a QB, RB, OL, TE, DE and OLB.

Seems to change by the hour, for us anyway. My guess is that the coaches aren't too surprised by anything that happens this time of year.

30 is up to date and we have 26 commits. Looks like we will sign 30 out of WR/DE/DT/TE/FB.
Do we take back Quinton Powell at LB if he begs back into the class?
For a change, I'd like to see UF get as close to 85 as possible without going over. I want to get back to reloading rather than rebuilding.

30 is correct, for now.
With 8 EE's, this class could have up to 33 (25+8) players max should 3 more players transfer.

Don't want to end up short on available ships next year. Lots of talent on the board. With recent reliance on JUCO interior linemen, we'll need to go heavy to replace guys that are just here for two years. We need TEs, probably more LBs and the usual number of RBs and DBs. You'd have to project four or five out of this class leaving early. It's never too soon to try to find their replacements.

Next years class will be smaller than this one, but still should be 20-22 at a minimum. That is when programs can really focus on quality and focus on the best of the best.

I don't think we would stop taking players, per-say, just that I just don't think we're going to get "every" player we want. Do you think we hit 30 in this class?
Myself, I just want one more DT and Buck/DE in this class and I'm doing the Snoopy Dance.
I hope we get Swanson, Collins, Adams, and Daniel. I'd like to get Ramsey or Alexander, but the FB position is important and we're loaded at DB

It matters how long they can get the plan B and C guys to hold off their commitment to other school. There are more players that the staff is talking to than the usual suspects people like Raph Andrades

The year prior we took Graham Stewart.
Say James Clark decides to be a Gator and we have an extra scholarship on signing day a kid like his teammate DE Davarez Bryant could end up a Gator
Here are his hihglights he has offers from Louisville and Kentucky he will vist both soon

I agree...it's time to take the maximum. You take as many as you can or want as I can't remember the last time we had a full squad of players.

25 + 8 = 33. I say fill it up and get into reload mode. That fill up mark right now is 30. If we have any more transfers add for that up to the 33 max.
Starting at 77 not counting the 2 walkons with ships, we got into trouble with depth as the season progressed and the injuries mounted. SC is under a NCAA punishment limit of 75. Why would we hold back ships which has the effect of a self imposed probation? You can bet bama and LSU start fall practice with 85..........

Actually he wanted to be a Nole but Jimbo told him he was to small and didn't offer him.
My girlfriend's daughter is good friends with Andrades, they graduated together from Lincoln High and still talk regularly.
After the UF/FSU game RA went up to Jimbo and told him he should of signed him and then walked off.

Attrition is so much higher than when all of us old farts were at UF.
That's why I say fill up. I trust the coaches not to waste a ship on someone they know won't produce.

With Anzalone replacing Brown as our 8th EE, we can take up to 33 if we have more attrition. Right now, we can take 31, 4 more players, before we hit the 85 team cap.

Edit: Wait, did you mean additions and typed departures by accident? Then it makes sense.
Name some names or spill some inside info. Because I do not see this.
I guess it is possible that Tyler Murphy could bolt, but he has a great chance to be the No. 2 QB behind Driskel and No. 2s often find their way on the field.
Mack Brown will be competing for the No. 1 tailback spot all the way up until the first game.
OL - I guess it's always possible, but I don't I can't think of one who would leave.
TE - We are really depth shy there, a TE would be foolish to leave because they are going to get some PT.
DE - Maybe Kedrick Johnson would leave, maybe???
OLB - I don't see it. We are depth shy at linebacker and our upper classmen will play a lot next year. Unless someone is just not happy at UF. I don't see it.

Freak, no, I meant departures. I have no inside information, which is why I won't name names. It is pure speculation on my part. But there were NON redshirting, non injured players that never or hardly got to play this season.

6.) a TE or NSD surprise (a flip from bowers would be nice).

It wasn't the depth that cost us against UGA. We could have had 100 players ready for that game but that wouldn't change the outcome. It was the 6 turnovers. You're not beating many teams on your schedule ever with that many turnovers no matter who you play.

We had 20 JRs, 4 left early, so we will only have 16 ships open to graduation. Estimate 4-8 transfers, medical, NFL jumps and we are back to a 20-22 ship class in 2014. I am good with that.
The staff must feel they NEED another DE with all the ones they have visiting, so I have to think they will sign one more. Is Miss St commit, Jones still visiting? I think Daniels wants to be a Gator and has an official set for 2/1, but bad grades seem to continue to be an issue.
I think they would like another DT and I think Reed is the most likely candidate here.
Flips: They will do everything they can for Ramsey, so we will see, but he has to have a spot if he wants it.
I am not feeling Clark or Collins. They are great players and I would love for them to be Gators, but I have a feeling UF is in the "also considered" footnote.
FB Swanson wants to be a Gator, and if he redshirts he could be next in line behind Joyer. With extra ships this might be the year to take FB.
Still think another QB, RB, TE & OLB could transfer after Spring.

True for Collins, but I don't think that's the case for Clark. We've been in in his top two for a while. Clemson has come into the picture, but that doesn't mean UF has fallen out.
