"The incendiary rhetoric [of the Muslim Brotherhood] becomes relevant now that the Obama administration plans to give 200 Abrams tanks and 10 F-16 fighter jets to the Morsi government."

Why should this come as a surprise. Got to keep the MIC up and running. In lots of ways it's nothing but corporate welfare since we give these countries money and they buy armaments from our corporations. Of course we don't want to have 50 threads on that since it doesn't fit the in with those who believe welfare is limited to people here in the U.S.

From 2011:

The US signaled last week that it plans to continue business as usual when it comes to arms sales to the Egyptian military, despite the recent revolution in Egypt and continued anti-government demonstrations there.

On Friday, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of a possible sale of 125 M1A1 Abrams tank to Egypt – the first large arms deal since Hosni Mubarak was ousted from power in February – including associated weapons, equipment, parts, training and logistical support at an estimated cost of just over $1.3 billion.

If approved, the deal would increase the number of Abrams tanks in Egypt from around 1,000 to 1,130.
................

The Pentagon told Congress – which has 30 days to object to the deal – that the sale of the tanks would “contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country that has been and continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East.”

Kind of goes along with his crying over the murdered children at Sandy Hook while ordering drone strikes that result in the murder of children abroad.

Just a puppet dancing on the strings.

we stole money from future generations to pay back so that we could give $$ to Egypt to buy them from the MIC. We will do the same thing for Israel so they have equal firepower and the MIC keeps making money.

me...I wouldn't give either one a penny, they would then still have equal resources for weapons then.

0 and this administration are no different than all the others that support the MIC.

If the US doesn't give either one a penny they would have equal resources for weapons?

Really?

You mean that China & Russia don't supply funds & weapons to the world also?

are china and russia giving money or weapons to egypt or israel?

and china rarely gives anything away, they will trade for something or give you something for a percentage of your resources but they are not known for their charity.

does either one of them have the deficits we are giving to our children?

The Chinese are all over the Arab world to secure their supply of oil. Another reason to move as much as we can away from oil use.

How about Syria?

If the US stepped out of the "aid" game you don't think others aren't going to rush in to fill the void and influence countries in the region?

And as RPM says...China & Russia are already supplying weapons & money.

Russia was getting a deepwater port for their Syrian support.

China gives little to nothing away. They use their foreign aid to leverage business deals and I agree we need to get off foreign oil. China is securing their oil in Afirca by using bribes that we prosecute our oil execs for. They are allso buying cheap Iranian oil to keep Iran afloat while they both mock us and 0 looks the other way instead of enforcing sanctions for buying Iranian oil.

Maybe you can convince 0 that nat gas as a surface fuel is the route instead of 45k volts so that we can proceed to get off foreign oil. Coal to liquids is a better option than ethanol but we can't fund that either..I could go on but anything hydrocarbon is evil to chewie and 0

and what "influence" do you think we really get for all the debt we are piling on our kids? we give away billions and they still hate us and instill a religious based constitution and dictator that will suppress human rights in Egypt even worse than Mubarak did. they don't respect us or show any real gratitude for the aid, they take it, laugh at us, and then do what they want to anyway..all so future generations of US citizens can be further in debt when born than their parents were...that is the true legacy we are leaving to our children...debt...but 0 says we don't have a spending problem

All of that foreign aid bought the US 70 years of dominance globally as the #1 superpower in the world.

Was it the smartest foreign policy?
Was it the most efficent?
Was it the most effective longterm?
Was it ethical?

No matter your answers to the above, it was a major component of our foreign policy since WWII...

We didn't support dictators around the world for fun...

no, beating the chit out of anybody that challenged us and bombing them back into third world status destroying their manufacturing base made us dominant, not giving them money
