I'd love to know what the coaches said and how he felt about his visit.

From an interview with ESPN:
“I got to know the coaches and players really well, which is good, since I might be playing with them in the future,” Adams said. “My favorite part was letting them talk to my momma and letting her meet the academic tutors. I know she liked it at Florida, and she loved the people there.”
"I could see myself at Florida."

Who was the prospect a while back whose percentages added up to well over 100%? Keith Rivers maybe?

Along the lines of 40% Florida, 50% USC, 20% another school, 10% another school. It was silly.

The main thing I think a lot of people underestimate is the mom factor. From everything I heard his mom absolutely loved Young/Quinn... It could be an X Factor, and then add in D Robinson, if people think he won't play a small role in convincing him to come, they're sadly mistaken. But hopefully he's a get!

Not anymore.

Then there are the newcomers, like Chris Jones, the 6-foot-6, 255-pound Mississippi State commit who wasn't even in the Scout 300 two months ago and is now a five-star prospect, the second-ranked defensive end nationally and No. 24 overall.

"(Jones) has one of the highest ceilings in the class," national recruiting analyst Chad Simmons said. "He is so quick off the ball, he has great range on the edge, and he has so much room to improve. He is now the top prospect in Mississippi."

Gator8239

Jones is a 5* on 24/7. Mississippi has some serious football talent, with the academics usually being the downfall. He completely dominated here, and then at the UA game.

I say if you seen them play about the same in all reality.... I would give the slight edge maybe to Jones now just did simply making the O Line in the all star game look like a pop Warner team... But Daniels is very good, and if we land both that would help us tremendously...

Me too.

I don't think too much surprises me anymore about recruiting. Some say our chances are 70% and the guy goes to one of the other two schools with 15% chance... Or we have absolutely no shot and then we get them, Fowler/Elam.... Yesterday was my first surprise in a long time with Anzalone flipping, loved that, but then again some could say it really couldn't come as a shocker it's his fathers Alma Mater, and he liked them from the beginning...

UF lost Hunter to Graduation, Floyd to the NFL, Jacobs is a SR, Cummings a JR and Orr a RS JR next year. We only have RS FR Q. Williams as the only other DT on the team.

We can sell plenty of playing time. Especially since rotation, early and often is part of our strategy on the D Line.

We actually are taking four guys in this class (Ivie, Cummings, Brantley and most likely Riles) who all project to see more time at tackle than at end. At this point, I'm just hoping we hang onto Riles. He and Ivie are "Muschamp" defensive linemen. I just don't think some people realize that those two are really good prospects for this defense.

Assuming that both Brantley and Riles end up keeping their words, and don't decide to make it interesting down the stretch, we've done well at defensive line.

Like Nkemdiche, I just don't see Adams in this class. We aren't even really on his radar.

Are you aware of any silent commits UF may have? — Tamayo, Trey, Hunter

I’ve been told by multiple sources of one prospect who has given the Gators his verbal privately, but I cannot name who it is. The only hint I’ll give is that he plays on the defensive side of the ball.

"New week, same answer. UF has recruited Adams hard (if not the hardest) this month and got him on campus for an official visit, but the consensus has been and still is that it’s a battle between Clemson and Georgia."

That was Abolverdi's response to questions regarding Adams. I doubt he's a "silent". I still believe there is an outside shot at us landing Adams, but I wouldn't expect him to be a part of this class.

I don't pay attention to "silent" commitments. Usually they're a bunch of nonsense, and they generate interest more than actually having any validity.

Look at his list of signees and it's pretty clear that Ramsey is the guy Zack thinks is the secret silent.

That's the way I understand it.

So is the silent bostwick?

I could deal with that !

Jaynard Bostwick 6'4" 291 4*

Montravius Adams 6'3" 290 5*

40 times not listed; number of stars is someone's (not necessarily UF coaching staff) opinion of skills, attitude, etc.

Thing that I question - Adams' level of competition - Dooley county, IMO, not the equal of South West Fl.

We often use the phrase "a man among boys", which I take to mean that the player's physical development came earlier than the other HS athletes he is competing with.

When you compare the two populations, I prefer Bostwick & what I perceive as his greater level of competition.

Of course, statistics can be misleading - there was this half as**ed RB from Wrightsville, Georgia, Herschel something or other who turned out OK:wave:

Port St. Lucie - Population: 166,149 (2011)

Dooley County - Population: 14,587 (2011)

Port St. Lucie forms part of a metropolitan area called the Port St. Lucie, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area that in 2009 was estimated to have 406,296 residents.

Lets just sign Bostwick and be done with it. Maybe Reed too!

Yea I can see that. Either or I would be happy with both.

Competition level is definitely different in a rural town than a metropolitan, within that town, but if he plays teams from bigger cities and dominates them, and that team picks the best among their city, then that should mean he's got some talent.

Be nice to see Bostwick, Ramsey, Reed, Swanson, Clark finish this class out...

I've seen Adams' 40 time listed somewhere. Don't remember what it was, but it made me think of him as more of a pocket crushing one-technique type who had some agility. No 40 times on Bostwick, but he's fast enough for some services to list him as SSDE prospect. Not as concerned about boosting our ranking as filling out this class wth an athletic DT is probably our biggest need. (Brantley runs a blistering 5.2). Ramsey will give us style points so that when we sign a 3 star, immediate contributor like Reed, we could still end up with the top ranked class, whatever that is worth.

I still believe the only recruiting competition we're in is with Bama to see who gets the most/best linemen and LBs. We have all the other ingredients moving up through our system. We just need to catch up with them on the OL and the defensive front seven.

Well Zach didn't have Adams as part of his Mock, but did have Ramsey if that's a clue.

The silent can be 1 of only 3 recruits according to Zach's last mock class, Ramsey, Bostwick or Powell, the only 3 not currently commited.

If we finish with THAT, this board is going to crash on signing day. Florida has a somewhat decent shot at every one of those prospects. Hopefully Bostwick makes it to Gainesville this weekend. That'll be huge.

With that group to close with, I'd be happy, but getting RN and MA would crash the board for sure. I know.........dream on.

No need to be an ass, I really didn't know. I was just asking a question. Geesh!

Ignore the ultra-sensitive. Anybody that doesn't understand the word Pesky is lost in my book.

I wonder how much his final decision on a school will be about his Mom's preference above his own feelings and choice.

Rodney Garner, GA's former DL coach and Recruiting Coordinator now at Auburn, had his ear and he might now favor the Tigers. He hasn't had enough time to know GA's new DL coach, Chris Wilson, so that could be a factor.

He said he likes our Coach Bryant Young and appreciates and respects his NFL playing days and experience in getting him ready for the next level. That's good to hear, but this probably will be a NSD surprise for whoever he and his Mom finally chooses.

That's good to hear, but this probably will be a situation where his mother sends his a** to his room after that final visit, so she can decide exactly where he's gonna play his ball at.

More likely.

It's possible. It's also looking more and more likely, but I'll have to see it to believe it. I've been thinking the same thing. It would make sense...
