How to stop text alerts for subscribed threads?

I recently took over my wife's iPhone 3gs after upgrading her to the iPhone 5.
I added Gatorcountry app to the phone and keep getting text alerts when someone responds to a thread for which I have participated. Then I have to unsubscribe from the thread to stop the text alerts.
How can I turn it off so that I do not receive a text alert when someone replies? It is driving me crazy.

Go into settings in the app and Deselect push notifications. That should work

I'm on the Android version so not sure what button it is on iPhone that brings up the menu. I do know for me its the same one that brings up the options to start a new thread or reply. Do it from the main menu and you get options to logout and settings.
