Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio was re-elected speaker of the House on Thursday despite some unrest among Republicans about his handling of the fiscal negotiations with the White House and his decision to call off a vote on hurricane relief.

As the 113th Congress convened just after noon, Mr. Boehner weathered some protest votes from the rank and file to defeat Representative Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic leader, by a vote of 220 to 192. Other candidates drew a total of 14 votes.

Would be a bigger shame if dingbat Nancy was elected as SOH again. Not much of a difference, but still...Pelosi?

God help us all if she were to EVER regain that title. How she even gets elected to congress at all is stunning.

more of the same for republicans / democrats---bills loaded with pork, higher debt ceiling, more borrowing from the chinese, --- it never ends.

Allen West pulled a few votes. Apparently, you don't have to be a house member to get votes to be Speaker. One would think that's a prerequisite.
