Curious if anybody here has been solicited by Hyatt Residence Club.

I rec'd a $49 per night offer for a few days in Sedona, CA which looks like a pretty nice getaway. It comes with the obvious obligation to take a tour of what the Residence Club has to offer.

Anybody taken this tour? Is it typical time-share stuff?

I haven't done that one but they are usually typical timeshare stuff. Most are targeted at certain income levels and usually require being married. I don't mind them but wifey doesn't like to do them. I take advantage when I can because I am all about cutting the cost to travel if possible. Have a few glasses of wine before the tour, think up a reason to say no before the tour, stick with it, enjoy the getaway. In the middle of refinancing the house is always a good one....

Hyatt has some nice places and you may be able to get the same deal somewhere else if you call and discuss.

Cool. Thanks Gr8t.

Just how hard do these cats come at you during the sales pitch? Is it a good cop/bad cop type of routine, coming at you in waves, etc?

from my experience, mostly peddling of long term benefit followed by attempted guilt trip and then really missing your chance here bs. you can either debate them on real merit of total cost or bs them with excuses or tell them not really interested and you just wanted the reduced rate for a cheap weekend..then you get the stink eye look.

or you and spouse can play good cop, bad cop and you can blame her if she is good with that. just have her pull you aside a couple of times during the discussion and then they will take the run at her.

each salesman can get creative though, imagine your teenage daughter trying to get her first phone....that is a dream I am living right now....no means no....what part of no do you not understand...double stink eye look
