For those of us unfamiliar with the book, what's the basics (without spoilers please :) )?

Basically a story line of how it all goes down, when it does. It's a compilation of different accounts/sories from all around the world.

Not a spoiler, but just some solid advice. YOU WILL NOT BE SAFE ON A BOAT. Don't think you will just because you are on the water.

The movie looks terrible. The book was okay, I guess, but its unconventional narrative style made the story a little incoherent at times.

I thought the book was very good. Its written by Max Brooks, son of Mel Brooks, and was a sort of follow up to his also very good Zombie Survival Guide. The book uses an unconventional interview account of the events of the zombie war after it happened. The movie is going to depart from that pretty heavily, it should still be really good. Looking forward to it.

Yeah, I too saw the trailer this morning for the first time. Has me hook, line & sinker. Looks intense.

I prefer the slower zombies. These creatures look like the creatures from Will Smith's version of "I Am Legend".

I agree. I watched it without sound. I actually thought it was a legend sequel trailer at first. They look and move like them. That kind of sucks. The best thing about zombies is that you can whip 3 or 4 easy. But it's the numbers, moving slowly, that overcome you.

I really wish that abomination could be completely erased from all memory. One of the iconic vampire stories of all time and the inspiration to so many horror authors to follow it has been totally ruined on film.

I thought that movie was pretty awesome, but then, I have no idea what you are talking about.

I am legend by Richard Matheson the supposed basis for the movie that they completely butchered.

The altered ending is unforgivable. The whole "Legend" theme is completely obliterated. Not suitable for Americans in need of happy endings, I suppose. Should've let the Koreans make it. They don't mind assaulting delicate sensibilities.

Dang, now I gotta read this. I don't mind sad endings. They're more realistic. Especially in a zombie/vampire catastrophe.

Is that what this is, another zombie movie?

The zombies look like hordes of rats or cockroaches. Might be interesting. BP usually makes good movies. For me the standard is Night of the Living Dead (original) and Walking Dead.

The Omega Man was totally better.

It's a short story too. But be warned, the character as portrayed by Will Smith is dramatically different and then of course the ending. But it's worth a read and I thought a far superior overall tale.

BTW, it's not necessarily a sad ending, you could spin it a couple of different ways. But the entire "I am legend" aspect is crystal clear in the book. The movie could've have been called 100 different things with no effect.

OK, end of rant. I still liked the movie OK.

That reminds me, Spike Lee is coming out with a remake of Oldboy this year, bruh.

Yes sir! Spike seems like an odd choice, but he's supposedly doing it right (not watering it down--hammer fight, same ending, etc.) There are some interesting improvements that could be made, so I'm jazzed to see how it turns out. Josh Brolin is the main man, he seems like a good bet.

I read somewhere that the original director tabbed to do the movie was Stephen Spielberg. With Will Smith playing the lead character. Would've been turrible, bro.

Yeah, no edge on Spielberg anymore, if there was really ever one. Will Smith is too cuddly too. He's super slick and sticky sweet. We need grit and grime for this bad boy!

I just can't get into zombies, the whole concept is too unbelievable to me.

Now space aliens that's a whole different story, they are out there and some day will decide the human race needs to go. I guess my anti alien arsenal would work fine against zombies if ever needed.

You need to watch the walking dead 51. I felt the same way, but that show is excellent. The first season will change your mind.

Bought it and read it. Good short story, but what a letdown! I buy a 300 page novel, get a long short story and a bunch of short stories on top of it. WTF!

I also disagree the movie didn't do the book justice. The book has a much more human touch, and a human ending, but damn, it just ends.

Totally let down with the way you 2 built it up.

The movie was still a killer flick. I stand by that.
