View Full Version : George H.W. Bush in intensive care.....

This doesn't sound good......prayers he feels better soon.
Updated at 7:08 p.m. ET: Former President George H.W. Bush was battling an elevated fever Wednesday and was in "guarded condition" in a hospital intensive care unit, a family spokesman said.
"The President is alert and conversing with medical staff, and is surrounded by family," said a statement from family spokesman Jim McGrath. Bush, 88, was moved to the intensive care unit at The Methodist Hospital at the Texas Medical Center in Houston on Sunday, McGrath said.
Bush has been in the hospital since Nov. 29 for treatment of complications related to bronchitis. After initial expectations that he would be hospitalized for only a few days proved to be wrong, doctors said through a hospital statement on Dec. 13 that they expected Bush would "be able to celebrate Christmas at home."

Whether you agree with his politics or not, he served as a pilot in WWII, CIA director, VP, president, fathered a president, and did a ton of post presidency work with Clinton around the globe. And with all of that he is one of the more humble presidents we have had.

^^^ Agreed oragator. He may not have pleased everyone, but he did do an admirable job in lots of venues. He was one of the most qualified candidates for POTUS, if not THE most qualified based on experience and resume'. It still irks me to this day when so many of his critics complain about him not finishing the job in Iraq back in Desert Storm-1990. Griping about driving all the way to Baghdad and not taking Saddam out. Given the mandate, Bush did exactly what was required to do without overstepping his authority, and in one of the shortest conflicts ever--liberated Kuwait within the limits he was held to. I call that as a shining example of 'character' at levels higher than most POTUS have shown during their terms in office.
I know his age is catching up with him, but I hope and pray he pulls through this. He has served his country well over his life and he deserves a bit more time here on this earth.

A CIA operative, friend of George de Mohrenschildt (handler of Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas), and perhaps the only sane adult at the time who said he couldn't remember where he was on 11/22/63. He was lying (why?), because he made sure that his whereabouts was documented (via a phone call to the FBI from Tyler, Texas on 11/22, the supposed purpose of the call being to implicate a totally innocent individual, a fellow named Parrott, as a possible assassin).
According to a 1963 FBI memo, "George Bush of the CIA" was briefed on Cuban activity in the wake of the JFK assassination. Bush says it must have been some other George Bush.
Friend of the Hinckley family, one of whom proceeds to shoot Reagan (allegedly) with a magic bullet (it curved around a car door), though Reagan was too dumb to die and make Bush president.
As VP claimed to be "out of the loop" during the Iran-Contra treason.
Rewarded (finally) with the presidency. Well deserved, Poppy.

I imagine LBJ at least signed off on it (not just to become president but to stay out of prison), and he certainly managed the cover-up from the White House. (He knew good and well that Oswald was not a lone shooter, as is obvious in a taped phone conversation with J. Edgar Hoover).
Yes, we have had some truly admirable presidents, above the law both before and after they take office.

George De Morhenshildt is one interesting dude. Bush did go to prep school with George's nephew, but George also knew Jackie Kennedy and her family when she was young (he sent a condolence letter to her mom after JFK's death and got a personal response asking him to say hi to his brother), and he and Jackie were friends enough that she chaired his charity for cystic fibrosis. He also spent a great deal of time with Gen. Macarthur's nephew, cavorting through Mexico together. He trekked from from near the US border, through Mexico all the way to the Panama Canal. He had connections with CEOs who got him jobs, married into old institutional money several times, and had political connections. And all of this from a guy who arrived in the US as an immigrant speaking little to no English. His dad was a czarist Russian who was sentenced to life in Siberia when the communists took over but escaped. His brother was sentenced to death by the communists and survived via a prison swap with Poland, where his family was by then. He made and lost money many times, married 4 times I think, and died via suicide in the 70's.
As far as him being a "handler", that's a stretch. I could totally see him wanting to curry favor for his Haiti project by passing any info he learned to the CIA who might help with their government, but almost all of his contacts with Oswald involved his wife and Marina, and the last contact he had with him was at Easter of '63. He had met him through the small Russian community who had systematically shied away from the newbies because Oswald was seen for who he was, George and his wife were the last basically to fall off. George actually criticized the government in his Warren commission testimony for not protecting Kennedy and also publicly said he was never sure it was Oswald who was the guy. Hardly things an operative setting up a patsy would say.
Most of this I got from George's testimony before the Warren commission, which is about 120 pages but a really good read. Gives great insight into Oswald as well, his motivations and personality are much more clear and the man asking the questions was remarkably detailed, the background searches that went into the questioning were thorough to say the least.

You can't follow Bush's career without believing in coincidence theory.
Bush knows de Mohrenschildt who is pals with Oswald. Just a coincidence.
Bush is in Dallas on night of 11/21/63 (but doesn't remember it). Just a coincidence.
FBI briefs "George Bush of the CIA" after JFK assassination. Must have been "another George Bush" - just a coincidence.

This is not "my theory of George Bush 41." The facts are well known to those who have bothered to look. But maybe you can point out anything I've stated that is not factual. If it is all indeed just coincidence to you, then that's what I meant by believing in coincidence theory. Who is more gullible?
Maybe you can also explain why he would lie about not remembering where he was on 11/22/63. If you made a call to the FBI accusing someone of possibly being involved in presidential assassination that day, don't you think you remember doing it?

Bush I served his country, and is a good and decent man who loved his family. If that is to be condemned, America has changed for the worse.
I watched 55,000 young Americans die during 'Nam. Some were friends. However, I harbor no animosity toward those presidents who presided over the war. I decline to condemn them. I refuse to let anger control me. I believe they did what they thought was right at the time.
A person cannot decide what principles another person lives by or what their principles should be. The only thing I can decide is what principles I live by and what choices I make.
I hope that I will make the lives of my children and grandchildren better than mine, and that they will remember me as a good and decent man who cared greatly for them and loved them deeply. When I die, nothing else will matter.

I don't look so favorably on a man with an intelligence background who lies about it, particularly lies about Dallas, and (given that association) may have helped identify a good patsy (a troubled friend of the family) to program for the hit on Ronnie. There are facts about Bush and his background that suggest he had involvement in the assassination of one president and the attempted assassination of another (with the latter, had it been successful, making him president). So there is more, you see, than him once being CIA director that would make him a rather indecent person.

Well, I'm 70 (71 in February) and not in good health. I'm ready to go. When I'm dying I will let you all know so that you can deluge me with your thoughts and prayers, or applaud and cheer loudly as the case may be. You can even piss on my deathbed thread, it won't much matter to me.
i was hoping you keep up the good fight!
