to try and snag Laquon Treadwell #1 WR in the nation.
He's commited to Ole Miss, but is taking a few final visits to Michigan, UF, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma state.
This kids from illinois can anyone tell me why he's going to Ole Miss?
maybe Muschamp/Pease/Phillips can sway him and convince him to come play for a winning program.
i think we already have a good WR class coming in. But this would put the icing on the cake.

Early playing time is definitely up for grabs considering how thin we've been at the position in recent years and the graduation of Hammond.

Ole miss has a high school teammate of his that is on the team. Treadwell has been there multiple times and Ole miss has a good coaching staff. It two years they will be competing with the big boys in the SEC west.

Its about relationships Ole Miss has two players on their team that have great relationships with two top recruits. This wont be a one year thing either they will continue to recruit well.

That last part is what I'm afraid of..... That's all we need is another USCe type up-and-comer on the west division.

That's what makes the SEC great, competition. Florida would only have to play them in the championship game anyways.

My point is...we were irrelevant for 3 years under Zook...it happens that fast.
They won't come because we are Florida alone. Ask Notre Dame.

Right. If Foley struck out with Meyer...we would be Tennessee today. All it takes is two bad hires.
If you are irrelevant for 4 years, you lose an entire run of high school kids. Two bad coaches will cost you six years minimum.
The last Time Tennessee was good, high school seniors were in elementary school.
I repeat, kids won't play here for long "just because we are Florida".
They will play where the program is relevant.

Zook also recruited really damn well, made things much easier for Meyer, and no I am not bashing Meyer.
Just saying that Zook does not equal Dooley.

Recruiting is easy...play with an opportunity to win, play right away, and benefits. The kids are being recruited in junior high now so don't tell me the benefits don't matter. If a high school is willing to give you money, rent, and tuition to play for them nowadays why would they go to a college and not expect the same or more.

Right they won't but being Florida will definitely make them think twice... There select schools that will get big recruits always that's just my belief...

Yeah, Meyer was a bad hire.. i mean sure he doubled the titles Spurrier (and everyone else) won and sure he lost less games to Uga and FSU in 6 years than Boom has in 2, but he was a horrible hire, heck Florida talent carried him, look how bad he's been at OSU, they didn't even make a bowl! (Ignore the record and the best wining pct in college football history please).

You are missing the fact that he is a Meyer apologist. You would think that, due to him coming to his defense any time anyone on these boards says anything remotely bad about him or questions his excellence of coaching.

You're right!! UF has never put a wide receiver into the NFL and probably never will. (I'm going to go ahead and point out my sarcasm because I get the feeling you need me to.)
By the way, not trying to activate your,"Meyer is my secret lover and I will attack if I perceive he's being dissed!!!" reflex, but you do realize he is no longer UF's head coach don't you?
Here's some more facts to chew on as well.
1. We had to survive Meyer's "retirement", followed by his "return" during which it's actually a moot point whether or not he actually coached at all.
2. Because of Meyer's love for Addazio we arguably lost Billy Gonzalez and endured even coaching changes at WR after Meyer flaked out.
3. We didn't even have a real WR coach this year after Aubrey Hill resigned due to the UM Nevin Shapiro investigation.
4. We now have Joker Phillips who has proven WR coaching skills.
5. We dealt with a virtual first time starter in Driskel who will be better next year.
6. It's impossible for me to believe you are a Gator fan with the crap you post.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say all your rep must have been earned during the Meyer era.
How you can take a thread questioning the staying power and prominence of college programs and interpret it as some kind of slight on an ex-Coach, I have no frickin idea.

SS probably thought we would have 4-5 losses this season. We have 1. I doubt he would give Muschamp credit for that. Also he said we would have 3 losses next season- when we will probably have 1 or so (maybe 0 at best, 2 at worst).
Maybe once we meet up with OSU and Meyer and destroy them it will quiet it down.

Ummm, no. Florida has a MAJOR advantage in having plentiful recruiting grounds right outside it's back door. We would be like USCw. Get a good coach and you're on top of the heap by the time you have your roster turned over. UT has to work a lot harder for the same recruits.
Coaches know the difference and we would not have Tennessee's issues finding a good or great coach.

Exactly, look at the depth at QB, RB, and WR. We're addressing those issues now, but it was slim pickings (or at least in player development).
