It's insulting that they do not even mention the excellent play of Yeguete or Frazier.

I would say ignorant. Just a further sign that writers around the country do not appreciate what Gators already know.

Hey, I'm all for flying under the radar for as long as possible. I love this team. This team is special. I can't wait until next Saturday!

The lemming-like media. They are always in their comfort cocoon. Not that the usual suspects aren't good teams, they are, but to the annual exclusion of everyone else?

The most daring thing they have done is pronounce KY not having gelled yet.

We lost our starting PG and our one star player from last year, so it is no surprise that the Gators are surprising the national media. It is also no surprise that some posters on this board act like this is part of some national conspiracy to hate on the Gators. UK fans are saying the same thing now that they've been dropped from the polls -- that the media hates UK, which is why the team dropped out of the polls.

If we keep playing this strong, we'll be getting all kinds of attention in the media.

one of the best 3 or 4 teams in the country, well thank you for noticing! I may be biased but I feel like Florida doesn't ever get any love whether it be football or basketball.

I really wish we got to finish against Gtown. Zona will be a big test, if we win there, then watch out!

I loved Erving but anyone with knowledge of hoops, including the big media you would assume, knows he was a liability defensively. He was not a big loss, probably best described as addition by subtraction.

Bradley was a big loss. Everyone else is a year older and a year better including a couple of MCDs.

It's not a conspiracy against the Gators at all. They can hype only so many teams and it's about name players in power conferences.

Returning a deeper and more mature team after back-to-back Elite Eights certainly deserved a closer look or at least a little respect instead of this guy feeling the need to give a wake up call to the basketball media that Florida is for real.

What hacks off basketball fans is these guys in the big media are almost like a de facto recruiting effort for these other teams. Their knowledge is shockingly shallow, it only goes down about a half dozen teams.

PNP is on the mark....But UF can and should win.

Not sure why some of you are hostile to that story. The guy calls UF one of the best teams in the country and you're mad because he noticed?

Come on guys, its early December, why all the whining and outrage b/c the media is only now acknowledging that UF looks like one of the better teams so far.

Is it really "insulting" that national media do not mention guys that are averaging 6 and 7 PPG?

You guys are hard to please, scroll down this board and you see the thread complaining that EPN shows UF no love.

Well, ESPN shows UF some love, but now its not enough love, or its not the right kind of love, or something...

You guys remind me of a needy ex-girlfrined, even when you tell her she looks good you don't say it the right way.

My take? During the end of the football season, ESPN and the like are pandering to the basketball schools. We have football and football recruiting to keep track of. Duke and Indiana fans need something and ESPN wants to give it to them.

Things will get up to speed in the middle of January.

If you are concerned with the Media's love, you concern lies in an exceedingly dangerous place.

Those of us who have no concern whatsoever for the Media's love, lead a far better life.

Pretty amazing we have had so much basketball success since according to you, our head coach doesn't have any knowledge of hoops. If Erv was such a defensive liability, he wouldn't have played.

lots of folks in the media do check sagarin and pomeroy - and the gators are up high in those rankings - probably surprising alot of media types outside of the sec/g'ville. that's part of how we 'get noticed' - then they may start checking the team out in actual games etc. looking at the stats, looking at who we've played and beaten etc. they may even start to theorize when we'll fall, etc.

Wow what a thread,

1. gatordd is correct, people know UF is really good.

2. UF does not much need publicity. Keep winning and everyone will notice. This is not a sport where one is trying to beg your way up the polls.

3. Beal was a good player for UF. He was NOT a star. That he was an NBA prospect and a lottery picked does not change the facts that he was a turnover machine and an indifferent shooter from the arc. He might well have been an excellent player for UF this year with some experience, but that is not the same as what UF lost when he did not return.
