So, the number 1 dual threat QB just broke off from USF as a result of Skip Holtz being fired. Since the QB we currently have is 3 Star Pro Style QB Max Staver, I was wondering if we're going to go after this guy with a fierceness. Florida was one of the possible choices for him, and he is from Winter Park. I think we've taken a few guys from there before.

The #1 dual threat QB was gonna go to USF? That tells me his grades are not as good as his athletic ability.

Maybe Coach Strong will bring him in.

I think that UF is solid with Staver this cycle, and we are banking on getting Will Grier in the 2014 class. Many think that if he commits he will be the future at that position.

As far as I know, his grades are fine.

We were in it for a very short time long ago, but he decided to pull the trigger for USF... But he is from the area and didn't want to leave home.

If UF didnt have Driskel/Brissett and FSU didn't just get Jameis Winston, he would already be committed to either.

And for what it's worth, I believe Woulard is a TON better than Staver. But I just don't see them pursuing another QB, or telling the QB we already have to kick rocks for another guy...

BUT Grier is better than both. Let's not rock the boat. Grier would be coming in at a _perfect_ time to take over for Driskel, who will be leaving.

Pease and CWM asked him to come throw at camp. He said he would then decided not to because he felt he was Florida's 8th choice. The family felt that the next year when Florida got their first choice Ashanti would never get a real shot.

Florida then took Starver and they are not going to take another QB in 2013.

I think Woulard is a guy who looks better in the camps than he performs in actual games. For the "#1 dual threat QB" recruit in the nation, his offer sheet is very weak.

can he play WR?

I believe he was interested in Tennessee previously. Charlie Strong and Woulard bring the spread to Knoxville?

Please remember that this is the guy who put a vid on YouTube of him stomping on a Gator jersey after we didn't offer him early on.

"he is from the area and didn't want to leave home"---the drive from WP to Tampa isn't much shorter than the trip to UF, I doubt that had any bearing

"ton better than Staver"----He led a decent program (frequent playoff team) with some quality athletes to a 3 win season, and they struggled to score points all year long. He simply isn't a good QB right now. Athletic for sure, but he has never produced in game action.

I believe he also broke his ankle in their final game.

Mr Grier please. IMO he is our best bet and will come in at a perfect time.

What kind of tool set does Grier have? Big arm? Mobility?

Grier is the guy from North Carolina that threw for 800+ yards for 10 TDs this year. Supposed to be a very complete dual threat guy.

You missed my point, which is, he wants to stay in Florida. And USF is the closest college to him.... Thus him staying close to home... I know it isn't that much farther to Gainesville, but we already have a couple of QB's.. so does FSU.

His best bet is Miami or go back to USF.

And I am not sure of your point from the second quote... Do you believe that Staver is a better QB that Woulard?? I think I am going to disagree. Early on, Woulard was up there with the other QB's we pursued, but it ended really quick when he didn't get an offer (and eventually the jersey stomp)...The only reason Staver is committed is because we missed out on all the other QB's... Staver wasn't the first choice by a long shot. I think he has potential... But I don't think he is going to be an eventual starter.

The highly rated QB we get in 2014 will take on the reigns after Driskel.... So all this Woulard/Staver talk is a moot point anyways.

I've got very little opinion on Staver, just havent seen him enough...really not at all. But I've seen Woulard a good bit, and despite his athleticism he is not good. Now he certainly could develop, but at the end of his second year as WP QB he wasn't any better than the start of his junior year, at least IMO. Just not sure that light is going to come on.
