the game has really slowed down for Casey Prather.
I just woke up and that thought came to me...

It has and I'm happy for Casey. I feel like early on he is doing a great job playing out of position, particularly offense, driving past slower big men and I would agree with a different poster who noted most of Casey's offensive production has come in this position. Either way, he's playing well and doing a great job fighting for rebounds and plays very good defense. Love this kid and hope the concussions are behind him.

I have no idea where is mental ceiling is, but I think we all can see his athletic ceiling is somewhere outside the solar system. It took a while for him to hit the steep part of the learning curve, but if what started in last year's post season continues at its current pace this season the kid could be a major contributor for us.

Those couple drives he had against Marquette were damned impressive, and he's hitting the boards really hard too. Love watching him play and can't wait to see what he can do this season!

With those long arms and his ability to control his body in the air, he could be scary good attacking the basket. Just needs to be given more chances, which will come.

Sometimes players are forced to perform before they are ready. For Prather, this pretty much did not occur so he was allowed time to develop.
Even early on this year, in practice, Billy D was saying he was making too many mistakes, but apparently, he has made moves to control this which is really helping his performance.
At this point, when you start thinking about the guys who might come off the Gator bench, Yeguete, Prather, Wilbekin and Frazier, that is a pretty good group to have doing this.

previously he seemed totally out of sync with the rest of the offense. The light has come on for Casey

He's playing like he wants to be a starter. If his outside shot is reliable, watch out.

Wasn't there a thread on here a few weeks ago comparing Erik Murphy to Larry Bird? I love Prather. The staff really loves him. He is a good kid, great athlete, and potential difference maker for us. But as I said in the other thread, all of his success has come as a reserve four. Before the concussions, Donovan had already expressed continued reservations about his ballhandling at the three. Whether or not that has improved we don't really know because we haven't seen him much at the three.
At this stage, I am confident saying he will give us a great offensive productivity off the bench against most fours and great defensive productivity against most bigger threes in our league. Whether or not he can contribute offensively at the three (not necessarily scoring, either) will determine if he can make a Parsons-like jump in terms of finding his offense off the ball or without shooting much or whether he ends up being more like a Major Parker. The latter isn't a bad outcome by any stretch because we need those kinds of guys to be a well-rounded team, but the point is that we shouldn't really overstate the improvement he has made just yet since it isn't transferable to another position right now, or at least we haven't seen whether or not it is.

Erik murphy is a porcshe. Larry bird couldn't replace him.
