It appears that he left town with his Mom. Will not be back for Friday game. Lexington is in meltdown. I hope whatever his problem is, he gets it together.

Why is Lexington in a meltdown?? Really?? That is silly. He has contributing nothing this year and I don't believe he is mentally tough enough to be the point guard at Kentucky. There is more to this story trust me!! If there are UK fans upset they are silly as Harrow is not a game changer and will not be the difference in our season at all. I think it's 50-50 he comes back at all. I do hope he gets it together but I have my doubts.

I'm in Lexington, its not melting down. Neither is catspause (I'm as shocked as any of you). The thread about Harrow has 5 times as many people wishing him luck than people saying anything else.

Cal always says that playing at UK isn't for everybody and that this goes double for the point guard. I don't buy that he has health issues or family issues and think he's a little overwhelmed and wondering if he's at the right place. The staff seems to be covering for him in case he decides to return. Thats my take at least.

The only reason I'll agree with Jeff that Harrow isn't a "game changer" for us is because I didn't exactly see another championship on the way - even with him. This just makes an already thin roster even thinner (a risk Cal consciously takes) and means the teams new point guard is either shooting guard (which means the team loses its best shooting guard in essence) or is a player who only has a scholarship because there are extras to go around. Jarrod Polson's only basketball scholoarship offer was from Liberty University. In 2011 it was Harrelson that had to step up for the team to do anything meaningful, this just means it'll have to be someone unexpected this year as well.

He isn't mentally tough enough to be the point guard at Kentucky!! I think he is pouting IMHO. I agree with REM playing at Kentucky isn't for everyone. If he can't get it together than next!!
This season is like leaving Vegas a winner. There is no pressure on this team at all. I just hope they get better towards the end of the year. Pressure will be saved for next year.

Jeez if this is the case I wouldn't even want him around the program. He seemed like a pretty confident kid while at NCST and all the summer pro-am games, I wonder what could have pushed him to this point that he has to take a leave of absence.

I could be completely off and I hope I am about him.
Don I think the expectations and pressure have gotten to Harrow.

I agree with you. I also agree about him seeming confident at summer stuff. Thats his territory though. He's got mix-tapes that'll impress anyone. With his kind of athleticism, I'm sure it was easy to appear as if the grass was greener while he was at NC st. But what happens when you bite off a little more than you can chew, follow Wall, Knight, Teague and precede Andrew Harrison? I think you begin suffering anxiety that you probably haven't faced before in life. Your coach (who has already lit into you on an all-access show over and over) benches you in your first game and you get out played by a walk-on. Then you start wondering if you made the right decision, if you can handle the position you're in all of the sudden. My guess is Harrow talked to Cal about this and Cal told the public that Harrow wasn't feeling well. Things stayed in limbo long enough for the health cover to wear thin. I feel bad for the kid. You'd have to think he'd have known what he was getting himself into, but maybe he didn't fully.

This stuff happens and can end up going either way. I bet Eric Murphy is glad he decided not to leave Florida. I remember Joe Crawford actually leaving UK for most of the first semester before returning for the next four years. My guess is Harrow is gone, but we'll see.

Who does this leave the Cats with at the PG position?

More drama in Lexington, KY. BFD. I am sure that UK will be "OK".

It only leaves Jarrod Polson. He grew up 15 minutes south of Lexington and passed up a scholarship offer from Liberty Univ for a chance to walk on at UK. He's technically got a scholly now but its of the place-holder variety. Probably TMI here but this should give you an idea of the kind of playing time he was expected to get at UK.

The only other option is turning one of the two shooting guards into the starting PG. This means Goodwin or Senior transfer Julius Mays.

Polson, Goodwin and Mays are the only guards on the team who look to play any significant amount of minutes this year.

I didn't know we had any drama that I'm aware of but yes I agree we will be OK with or without.

Sounds like you are going to have some depth issues and it will boil down to a PG by committee if Harrow doesn't return.

So that means he is going to hit a big 3 or score 25 points in a key game for you. Those types of stories always seem to lead to that. lol I can already see the ESPN stories.

Maybe harrow had an aversion to being coached by a guy who should be in prison I.e. Strickland?

These things happen to freshmen.

Lexington, by the way, is something of a strangely Old South town, to some extent, people there continue to live with a 19th Century perspective. Admittedly, he won't get much of that experience at UK, but still, the aura of the surrounding area does sort of wash over the University.

What exactly is a 19th century perspective? I live in Lexington and have no idea what you are talking about.

Fayette County went Obama just barely while most of the rest of the Commonwealth (notice that I didn't say 'State'!) went Romney.
