Let's get this young man fully healthy for his sake and our team's sake.

I hope he gets back soon. I can't wait to see if he can build on his great end of last year.

Considering how short handed the team has been playing, they have done exceedingly well, however, it certainly will be good to get both Prather and Wilbekin back, so the other experienced players can get more bench time. This has, however, helped get at least Frazier some experience, which should help build the coaches confidence in him because he has played pretty well.
It will be very interesting to see if he can build on the end of last year, when he made terrific leaps, admittedly, playing primarily strong forward.

With Wilbekin one just hoped he would get back asap. With Prather having a second concussion immediately after being cleared after the first one, you hope first he is completely back to normal. Then basketball can come into the picture.

Really hoping to hear he's back to normal soon.

There are differing levels of concussion, but you can't fool around with any of them. The rubbish you see in movies and TV--when the hero magnanimously knocks someone out just to remove them from the equation for a while without really hurting them--is just that, rubbish. What he's doing is inflicting brain trauma in the form of concussion, and if the concussion is severe enough for the recipient to lose consciousness, it's pretty dangerous.
Not sure what level Prather endured, but the Tebow concussion was serious. He lost consciousness. One indicator of that level is the "picket fence" hands. If you watch Tebow go down, his arms went up perpendicularly from the elbows in a little picket fence.

Good information Planet, but it is known as "fencing" or the "fencing response." And it is merely one in a list of concussion grade indicators.

Way too early in the season to worry. Plus, I have been pleasantly surprised at how the freshmen are playing. Not really any "deer-in-the-headlights" look in any of them.
If he takes the rest of 2012 off, that is fine by me.

Really think prather could end up being a shutdown defender for opposing 2 and 3s. Hope he can get back soon. He needs the pt to develop.

GatorPlanet is correct,
There are numerous signs and symptoms of a concussion based on the severity...sometimes it can be just a headache that won't go away, other times it can be a headache, ear ringing, irritability, amnesia, etc....and you can't be cleared until you pass a slew of tests and most importantly, until all symptoms are gone...so Prather may only be experiencing a headache but until it goes away, he can't, or shouldn't return...

You know Loyal, frequently those headaches that won't go away result from tension in the neck.
A concussion is something of a different animal than your typical headache, however.
Hopefully he recovers and can contribute this year when he is far more needed that he likely will be next year.

I would rather just sit him until after the UCF game...I think we have almost a week off after Friday...if he is a maybe for Friday then he should be at worst case, a probable for Marquette which is a game we will need him more for anyway.....

Per BD on tonight's telecast, Prather practiced, non-contact, today, and is cleared for full contact tomorrow. I expect they'll try to work him in for 5 to 10 minutes against UCF. You need game time to work on your timing at full speed, so it's best to start now rather than just plugging him in against Marquette or FSU with no game time behind him.
nice ... i hope he is ok against UCF he plays so hard ...we need him
