I haven't really thought about this since Bama lost last night... but now that I am...
IF Bama doesn't make it to the National Title game, it hurts us, mainly because they would then be taking the Bowl Spot that should be ours.
So at this point, we need two of Notre Dame, Kansas State and/or Oregon to take a loss. That would put Bama up against the sole undefeated team in the NC game.
I _hate_ Bama... but we kinda needed them to do well to have a better bowl game... Feeling extra happy for Texas A&M tho, Looks like they can hang in the SEC, mad props.

Sounds like the trickle down theory of recruiting. IM not buying that and it's pretty sad if true. UF should be able to recruit just fine no matter what Bama does. Gstors dont recruit all that much agains Bama and I would question just how much a BCS bowl vs a Capital One bowl makes in recruiting. Here's one guy that wont be rooting for Bama to make the BCS game. They got their gift last year.

Bama has 7 players Florida wanted in the 2013 class.
Florida has 5 players Bama wanted in the 2013 class.
And a few players have not made a decision yet.
However the bowl game should not count that much in recruiting.

Disagree here...the gators sit at 6 right now...uga and bama are 4 and 5...and they play each other. One will drop below us. That will leave us at #5 in the worst case and the other ahead of us. The one ahead of us gets an automatic sugar bowl bid. The gators would ne invited to one of the other BCS bowls...no question. If the gators win out they will be in a BCS bowl...my first post btw

You know what impresses recruits...checkbooks. You want to compete with the big boys in the SEC..starting spending some money. Do you really think Saban is just such a genuis coach and that is why Bama turned it around? There are plenty of coaches that know X's and O's as well as Saban...it comes down to getting the players and Bama and LSU are not shy about getting it done.

That's what I am saying though, Bama would have gotten the NC game and we would have gotten the Sugar Bowl. I don't know where we fall to now...
I think y'all misconstrued what I wrote, I was merely talking about our chances of a good bowl game. Coupled in with recruiting, our bowl game doesn't matter much... However, some could argue that us going to New Orleans to play a bowl game would give us a chance to showcase our program to Garrett Brumfield and other recruits from that area... That's the only real positive I can see us pulling out of this, besides the fact that the Sugar Bowl is a much better bowl.

If we win out we will get an at large bid to another bcs bowl could be the fiesta in place of the big 12 champ if k state makes the title game and that's if Bama goes to the sugar

I don't think an SEC team will have to play for the NC in order for us to get an at large BCS bid, whether it be in Miami, New Oreans, or Phoenix. The SEC would almost certainly get an at large as there are 6 teams in the top 9 of the BCS rankings. There may be some noise about us not getting one, but if we beat FSU, it would take an absolute travashamockery for us to be left out of a BCS game at 11-1 with our resume IMO.

Checks are a bad idea, I would use cash, small denominations preferably.

#5 worst case???? If we go into the FSU game like we have since the LSU game, we might get thumped out of the Top 10. FSU is praying that Brissett is the QB because it gives them a chance to tee off on him. We are so bad right now, the pickers are picking us 27-10 against Jacksonville St. 27-10.

Calm down...hopefully we are healthy to an extent going in there...our players will be fired up and as long as our offense protects the ball our D will give us a chance...i expect a game similar to the UGA game...if we protect the ball we win that game...Georgia's offense is better than FSUcks...

Re recruiting...feel Champs style is similar to Saban's. Doesn't promise recruits playing time nor promise them or their family he will be their son's youth pastor. Tells them not to come to Florida unless they want to be pushed, challenged, built into a man and become the best football player they can be. Shows them what Dillman has done in one year and says if you want this come here and if not, don't.
Whereas coaches like Richt and Dabo Sweeney appeal to kids who want to be coddled and to parents looking for a spiritual role model. The problem with this approach is when it is time to kick the kid's ass and make him tough, the coach hasn't established permission to do this and some kids don't react well.
Bowden had this style at Half Ass U but he had Mickey Andrews as his enforcer. Richt has Mike Bobo.

Don't kid yourself, Saban promises that they're all going to be the next Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson.

I couldn't care less how Saban does it i don't want us to become a slightly lesser version of Bama but that seems to be the fervent hope of a lot of ppl on here, I want us to break the mold like we did with SOS and Meyer and hope it doesn't take too many years to realize that this approach is stupid and ultimately futile, Boom seems like a bright guy hopefully he'll get away from this 3 yards and a cloud of dust ground and pound crap within in a few seasons and we can get back to what Florida football is all about.

I actually hope he does it like Saban.
Saban hired an offensive coordinator and actually lets him call the offensive plays...

Saban handed a coach a play book and said you can make a few adjustments. Saban is involved in the offense at Bama.

Have you watched Bama this year? That's the kind of offense you can expect us to run and it certainly isnt boring. CWM philosophy is not going to change.

Champ/Pease will get a full back onto the field though. Bama usually only has 1 back in the back field. We'll have more of a 2-back offense, I would imagine

we will run some more one back stuff once we get some better Olinemen and blocking TE's. I do like that we use a fullback hopefully we steal LSU's fullback recruit. The 4 best teams in the SEC are LSU Bama Georgia & Florida none of them run the spread.

I wish we had room for a fullback this class but I know the numbers are already getting tight. We're probably going to have to take a punter and a full back next year. How are the numbers looking for '14?

well we just offered Swanson at fullback and he came to the JSU game so the staff is def thinking about taking a fullback in 2013.

Recruiting is almost over. Game-day official visits are behind us. I see only three remaining official visits scheduled. The few players still on our board are going to base their decisions on more qualitative criteria than which team ranked highest at the end. They saw the facilities, met the coaches and players, had meetings with academic advisors. After all that, the razor-thin margin between the quality of the three teams will not make a bit of difference.
We already lead both Bama and Georgia in most of the services. Among the key prospects still in play, Collins, Adams, Brown, Ogundeko, Daniel and Johnson, Adams is the only one strongly considering Bama and Georgia. If Bama out recruits us, it will be by the slimmest margin and not because they win the NC this year. More likely because they won it last year.

That really doesn't have much influence on many recruits.
Also, above will mean very little above, if any.
A few are influenced by the success of this year, but most decide due to innumerable other factors, including the quality of the car a school's booster offers if you sign.

Good post. It is true that we don't have a Trent Richardson-type, last minute drama going on this year, and the Dawgs have their converts already in fold.

I feel like UF, Bama, georgia so close right now that it probably won't, and shouldn't make that much difference. But one thing seems clear, recruits won't look at UF as the least likely of the three to win championships. At least that much is true.

UF is right where it needs to be and it's because of WM's plan to win. We loved the spread when Tim was here but not so much since then. Our current offense is much more consistent and when we get in the red zone our scoring chances are much better. If a college bound player has any sense he'll realize that the best way to the pro's is with a team coached by ex NFL coaches and a scheme resembling what the no-fun-league does.
