I am so excited for this game. What a great way to celebrate our military and what a cool experience for our guys. I could do without the orange camo uniforms and shoes, but still very cool none the less. Here are some pics of the USS Bataan getting set up for the game...

...By the end of the game it's liable to be in the mid 40's for the game. It's going to be a cold one for the guys. Hope the wind isn't too bad.

Let's hope no one gets too aggressive trying to save balls headed out of bounds.

True. It's a ship of battle; but not a battleship. It's a carrier.

Actually it's not a carrier it's an LHD (assault ship.)

It's actually a multipurpose amphibious assault ship. WASP Class. According to the Navy. I think the Navy has gotten away from using aircraft carrier because the ships do so much more than just carry aircraft.

ok, fellas, it is a United States warship. It is an amphibious assault ship which carries Marines and assault vehicles, plus aircraft (vertical launch planes and helicopters). It is not a carrier. For more information, lookup Jane's international warships online.

It's a carrier in a lot of ways. There is a hanger deck below the flight deck that is big enough to have a full sized basketball court. Just not a lot of stands, and the lighting would not be good for tv. I served on two LHA/LHD class ships along with the Baatan in 2003 FYI. It's roughly 3 football fields long and can carry 4k personnel.

Game in Charleston with Ohio State vs Marquette being delayed for an hour to see if the condensation issue will be resolved by cooler temps. I don't know if that would push our game back one hour or if we start play at 9pm, providing there are no condensation issues at Mayport.

I may have left on a shrimp boat, but I sure came back with the crabs.
No showboating tonight.

Yes multipurpose amphibious assault ship. This ship can flood the well deck and launch LCACs (landing craft air cushion) which transports tanks, humvees, etc.. While at the same time launching helo's and the vertical launch aircraft. It's is a very capable ship and is truly amazing to know what we are capable of as a Navy.

That Chief at the end of the line when they were reenlisting was my Chief when I was stationed there.
