View Full Version : Two Silents

I have heard time and again about the supposed two silent commits that we received after saturday's big game. Now that zach has said that he has that same news from reliable sources, my question is, who are they?
I will take known fact on who they are, speculation, or just guesses. Anything to quell my inner recruitnik. Thank you.

Duh!...I think the reason they are silents is because they don't want you to know
You will find out in due time, be patient....:shhh:

My heart tells me North and Adams or Tunsil and Adams (just so we can beat Alabama at something). My gut tells me Denson (even though he doesn't have an offer yet, but he told the coaches he wants in in the worst way) and the other Harris (who we all thought most likely) or possibly Anzalone. It would be great if it was the first option because, we could still get Harris later on

This was my first thought. But the rumor was that it was 2 defensive players... I guess that has changed??
I can definitely see them taking Denson, because really, how much stock can you put into Dawson if he may not even visit. Besides, even if Dawson wanted to commit towards the end, we'll find space. That's the kind of talent we can't really turn away.
Marcell Harris, though, for sure, imho, HAS to be a silent at this point.
I really think we have a solid shot at landing Adams. He knows he can come in here and play for 3 years and move on to the NFL. I wouldn't rule him out until he commits somewhere else.

In that case, Marcell Harris and Alex Anzalone. Notre Dame telling Anzalone not to comment on his recent trip to reporters... his surprise visit to FNL. The writing has been on the wall.
Denson is OVing for the South Carolina game, right?? I think good things will come from this.

Yeah those would be the guesses. Alex might be having second thoughts and just felt the high off a visit he is supposed to visit ND next week.I wont believe the silents until they are actually on the board.
He is supposed to official for the SC game He will probably be in Tallahassee this weekend. But again he doesn't have a offer yet. We are just going to have to wait and see.

That would make the most sense. The list is saw only had 3 defensive 2013 prospects. Anzalone, Harris and Adams. Of those, Anzalone is the only one committed elsewhere and from all indications I've seen, Adams doesn't appear to be all that close to making a decision.
But keep in mind that some kids silent to multiple schools (some just can't say no), so I wouldn't read too much into it. Also, I don't know if it was stipulated that both are 2013 commits.

Since speculation is allowed: I'm gonna say it's Harris and Anzalone, with Notre Dame asking Anzalone not to go public until they've had a chance to talk him out of it. Dawson has until the SoCar game to commit, where at that point, Denson will be given the green light on his OV that weekend, IF Dawson hasn't popped.
On a side note, Kelsey Griffin, who we were also recruiting, committed to SoCar after the game on Saturday, which makes me wonder if Adams or Gilmore didn't commit to us.

Yeah, it's going to be a great class, but I want Adams. That's where we've come up short the last few years. We need real DTs, guys who can project at the one or three technique. We've got enough big DEs. This class is sick with LBs, DBs and DEs. And then we have Brantley. If we got Adams, it might not matter who else we got on defense.

Agree wholeheartedly. Getting Adams, even though he's only one guy, could literally be the difference between a championship run in either 2013 or 2014 or just a 9 win season.

Agreed. Sometimes it just takes that one guy to tip the scales. He has future 1st rounder written all over him.
It's so crazy how we snuck in there. A few weeks _nobody_ had him on our radar. But wow, what a great win can do for the program. We have a very legitimate shot to land him.
Ogundeko is coming for an OV too. I still think we could sign him.
That's 2 guys to end our DL recruiting for the year. Pass on everyone else. I don't think anyone would be upset.

We are sitting on 19 right now.
I think we'll add Trenton Brown as our OT and I think Denson will flip before Dawson will, but in the end, I don't think it'll matter.
So that's 21.
I am feeling pretty good about Ogundeko. Always have. He can play Buck, and if it turns out that we don't need him there, we can slide him in as a LB. Makes him versatile.
So, 22.
Marcell Harris is a Gator, imho.
23.
So at this point there is 2, very possibly 3, even an amazing 4 spots left... depending on kids graduating, leaving early for the NFL, early enrollee's, transfers, etc. etc. etc.
With the few spots we have left, I think we wait it out. Most of the kids we are targeting at this point are already committed somewhere else anyways. And flipping kids can sometimes take time.
I think Adam's has a spot no matter what. We will wait on him till NSD, I think. I like Gilmore, but I don't think he has much of a chance with Adams entering the picture.
But anyways, we potentially have 3-4 spots for Derrick Dawson, Jalen Ramsey, Marquez North, Demarcus Robinson, Alex Collins, Alex Anzalone, Montravius Adams, etc.
I'd take any combo of Adams + 2/3.

I don't know man. Gilmore has been somewhat quiet. Wasn't nearly as pumped as I'd thought he'd be after that LSU game. Our time of taking any recruit who wants to commit has come and gone in this cycle.
I mean, it's a no-brainer between Adams and Gilmore. And I am not so sure I would take Gilmore before say... Dawson... or Ramsey.
Also, I don't believe Moore counts towards this years class number. He counts as a spot on the roster... which adversely affects how many people we can take. But generally speaking, Moore doesn't really have to come into the numbers.

yeah but the 85 is what we are worried about nothing else since we will have some EE.
Gilmore enjoyed his time and he liked the fact we had some NC boys. He is a take and he will make his decision in November.

To me, personally, I think he is eyeing more playing time at LSU. But that spot we be all the more valuable when he is ready to decide. The next couple of weeks should be fun to watch. I am thinking big news the day/night of the South Carolina game. If we do happen to keep playing well and get a W from South Carolina, then that's light speed momentum, we'll clean up.

I am having, somewhat, second thoughts on Anzalone's silent. Only somewhat because we wanted to take 5 LB's when the class started, but I am uncertain if we even have that type of room anymore.
More-so, I think this is just a "Let's not put all our egg's in 1 basket" move. If you look at it, we are visiting more kids than we can take on. This is nothing more than some really really good insurance in case another kid drops us or if we are put into the position to drop one of ours.

No way I can say I'm on the money. I only heard my news through someone else who gets good stuff, but admittedly, gets a few things wrong here or there.

He's elite. He has size at 6'3" / 220. He's an EE and has good grades. He's a quick/efficient thinker. Solid tackler. He can cover pretty good as well. Has a knack to know which way the ball is going.
Overall though, he's the type of LB that just about every good program wants. Lot's of upside. Room to grow, muscle-wise... precisely the type of guy who would benefit from Dillman.

I don't think stuff changed, he decommitted from Michigan bc they didn't want him taking visits. I think he just wants to enjoy the process and take some visits. We are still the heavy favorites in my mind. Who knows he might have silent committed to Boom and just doesn't want everyone to know yet so he doesn't get hammered with questions every school he visits about how committed he is to the Gators.

just my opinion, but i think Dawson and Harris are the most likely, but they both want their moment, Dawson needs more time to make sure and not second guess himself after decommitting.

His dad died recently... That's why he was with Michigan, he didn't want to go far from home. But I read somewhere that his fam is trying not to push him in any one direction, they want him to make HIS choice.
That said, I think HIS choice has been Florida since his good friend committed to us.
Have some patience guys, the kid just decommitted last week. I can already predict whats going to happen...
