Will sit out this season but I'm sure still practicing with the team! Welcome Billy!

No more issues traveling to see his son play. Not sure how much he'll actually see him play, accept during practice. Hopefully Little Billy can get some garbage time before his career is over.

If he is a walk-on, why couldn't he play this season?

This is too cool!

If he is a walk-on, why couldn't he play this season?

If I'm not mistaken, players are still subject to NCAA transfer rules, regardless if whether he's on scholarship or not.

When I saw the headline, I thought uh oh.

However, glad to see billy acknowledge the difficulty of the situation and admit his son won't he minutes. I hope he never sees the court because the more he plays the bigger the potential disaster.

This same situation essentially cost tubby the uk job and a ton of respect.

Overall, I still don't like it and don't see the pros for the team or program except go billy and his family personally.

I agree with the first half but not the bold part. Billy Jr is the perfect scout team player to help with this team. He has nice size and has decent skills. As far as in game, I don't think he has much to offer right now, but from a practice standpoint, this could be a very good situation.

He's just learning how to coach. No worries. He'll help out on the scout team, etc. And yes if a player transfers he loses a year whether a walk on or super star.

From what I saw in the exhibition game, he might be able to play at this level, not just as a scout team guy.

In the press release Billy said he tried to talk his son out of it. I would imagine that conversation was about if you actually want to play, stay where you are.

I was at the game -v- Catholic U. His kid played well and is the typical coach's son type player.... very fundamentally sound. I suspect he will not see any real pt, but i am sure this is about more than that.
Welcome, billy2!!! :)

Give Poppa Billy a break! He knows what he's doing. This isn't like rec league where some guys coach so they can try to make their kid into a star. If Li'l Billy deserves to play, he'll play. If he doesn't, he won't. Poppa isn't gonna mess up a good thing just to get his son playing time.

It doesn't matter if jr deserves it. If he starts seeing min it is a recipe for disaster. Even deserved minutes has a tremendous chance of causing rippling issues within the team.

It is not about billy doing anything wrong. All it takes is 1 player to perceive it as an issue and there is no telling what the negative implication could be.
