Andrew Moten is a long time favorite of mine. I will never forget the first tv game I saw him in playing UF. He was as complete a Frosh as UF has ever had.

Eugene McDowell

Ronnie Williams - the most surprising NBA miss IMO.

Dan Cross.

Dupay.

Brent Wright.

If he qualifies, Calathes. (although some believe he only hasn't made it into the NBA, because he hasn't tried yet)

Gotta include Taurean Green in the bunch. He is still making a living playing basketball though albeit in Turkey.

Does Clifford Lett qualify as not making the NBA? I think that he had a few 10-day contracts, so maybe he isn't eligible.

TG has played in 17 NBA games, BTW, so he is in the same situation.

If you knew Teddy you may not think so highly of him.

The best UF players I played against/with were:

I was fortunate to play with/against quite a few Gators

Jason Williams (Easily the toughest UF cover I've ever had)
Dan Cross
Vernon Maxwell
Major Parker was impossible to guard in high school
Rex Grossman (Intramurals)
Fred Weary (was such a ridiculous athlete-Intramurals)

My favorites:
UD
Jason Williams even though he was a complete dick
Eddie Shannon
Corey Brewer
AL Horford
Joakim Noah
James White (Not a great Gator but just a really cool guy)
Donnell Harvey (Every time I saw him on campus he was smiling ear to ear-Great guy)
Kenyon Weeks (Good friend)
Kendrick Spruel

I was at UF from 95-99. I played against Vernon recreationally. I just realized I didn't read the OP very well. ....."didn't make the NBA" is what I missed. ;) Sorry

My answer is completely based on how much I enjoyed watching these players play the game (although the ending to Dupay's career was very disappointing). I don't know any Gator players (past or present) personally. Not many of them spent much time at Weil Hall while I was there ('78 - '85) :joecool:

I did get to play a pickup game with Ronnie Williams in the old Alligator Alley one time, and fed him a couple of assists that aren't in the record books :joecool:

I really rooted for Teddy as he is a hometown kid and I coached against his YBA team, but not for some bad life choices followed by injury it would have been great to see him in the league

Nobody remembers Dwayne Davis? I loved those Gator teams in the 80s with big Dwayne in the middle and Davis and Chatman at forwards. Some of the best teams we've ever had.

Absolutely false. Teddy is one of my very close friends. He's had his struggles, but he's doing the right things in life right now, and doing a lot to help kids.

And I can tell you that Billy Donovan and his wife do not share your opinion of Teddy, as he is still very close to their family and the Gator basketball program. He is one of the most misunderstood former Gators in recent memory - much of which he would admit was brought on by his own poor choices. But he is a good guy at heart and that is evident to those who really know him, and to those young people he's helping today.

As for on the court, Teddy's 35 foot "heat checks" on opposing guards that played off him too far always made for entertaining basketball viewing, and being an AP All-American in 2001 wasn't too shabby either (I believe Roberson is the only UF guard since to garner All-American Honors).

As you can tell below, I started watching Gator basketball in the late 90's and you can tell I like shooters:

Kenyan Weaks
Teddy Dupay
Eddie Shannon (amazing the level he played at with only 1 good eye)
Greg Stolt
Lee Humphrey

Teddy Dupay.....I went to high school down at Estero High School and we would play Mariner all the time and I remember Teddy just dribbling up court, hit half court and nail jumper after jumper. The guy was an amazing high school basketball player. He also whipped my ass in tennis, he was just an all around athlete.

I had a few friends that went to Mariner and Ft. Myers high. l went to Law School with Corris McIntosh, who was a heck of a football player and ended up going to Brown on a football scholarship.

And if I remember correctly, Teddy led the entire nation in scoring as a HS senior

I played a bunch against Fred Weary as well. Great basketball player. Could've easily played for our bball team in those '96-'97 seasons.

I would easily say that he was the best basketball player on the football team.

Some other guys that could really play....in order of skills
-Quez Green
-Reidel Anthony
-Jevon Kearse (before he got too big, when he first came in at 210lbs at 6'4 he was really good. Eventually as he got bigger everyone just got out of his way. However the sleek agility and skills gave way to size and power)
-Travis Taylor
-Teras Ross
-Travis McGriff
-Ike Hilliard could play when he actually tried. Didn't play too much after his freshman year and was non-existent after his sophomore
-Gerard Warren was actually a skilled big man...he could play
-Andra Davis

and this is coming from someone who tried to dunk on Gerard Warren. But Kearse, no way!
