LSU commit Kain Daub transfers from Nease to Sandalwood
Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012

The nation’s top linebacker recruit in the Class of 2014 is on the move back to Duval County.

Kain Daub, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound junior, transferred from Nease to Sandalwood on Wednesday, Saints coach Adam Geis said.

Daub, an LSU commit whom 247Sports has already labeled a five-star prospect and the nation’s top recruit at middle linebacker, played last year -- and last week -- for the Panthers. He will be eligible to play in the Saints' Week 5 game against Parker, according to Florida High School Athletic Association’s bylaw 9.3.3 which states that a “qualifying transfer student becomes eligible on [the] sixth day of attendance” if certain parameters are met.

Geis said that Daub qualifies under the category defined as a “Full and Complete Move to a New Residence,” and that he confirmed as much with the FHSAA. Daub has relocated to his former residence within the Sandalwood zone.

“He’s moving back to the house he lived in his entire life, except the short amount of time that he moved to Ponte Vedra,” Geis said.

His arrival at Sandalwood is the second major defection from Nease. Defensive end Blake McClain, who played at Nease last year, also transferred to Sandalwood. McClain is also a major recruit in the 2014 class.

Daub’s arrival adds another high profile star to an already loaded lineup. End DeMarcus Walker is an Alabama commit and safety Malik Greaves has pledged to Vanderbilt. On offense, quarterback Parker Boehme (Duke) and lineman Donald Rocker (Florida International) are committed to Football Bowl Subdivision programs.

Poor Shane Matthews...Losing his best player?

Good for Sandalwood, bad for Shane & Nease.

Why did he move to Ponte Vedra in the first place? Maybe that's what smelled.

I will say this about Sandalwood...I worked there for a year as their athletic trainer a couple years ago...coach Geis and their staff are great coaches and great people..but for the talent they have on that team they really underachieve...you have an Alabama bound DE, a Duke bound QB (I know its Duke but their QB is arguably the best in the city)..they have a safety going to Vandy...another OL going D1...now they add this McClain and Daub kid...all that D1 talent and they haven't gotten out of the 1st round of the playoffs in years....in fact I think they missed the playoffs altogether last year

It wouldn't shock me if he tried, thankfully we need not worry about it at this point.

If UF isn't in play, why did you start this thread?

GPoing to an LSU board and starting a flame thread about a UF commit from the state of Louisiana is about the lamest thing I could imagine doing. uber=loser.
