This would be receiver #5 if he commits. I like UF recruiting the tall receivers.

"The 6-foot-3, 205-pound North has more than 20 offers, but his father said a few schools are recruiting him harder than others right now.

“Florida is recruiting him the hardest,” North said. “They are sending him a lot of letters and he is reading them. Clemson and North Carolina are recruiting him the hardest, after Florida, followed by Ohio State and recently Miami.”

Not casting aspersions and I hope Mr. North winds up at Florida...that said, every time I hear "North Carolina Wide Receiver" I get shades of Steve Shipp..."the best can't miss receiver in the nation". I don't know if Shipp wasn't a good player or developed some issues as soon as he got to Florida, but I don't think he ever played a down for us and he was touted as the best thing since canned beer.

North is a heck of a talent, but we know talent isn't always all you need. The kid is def worth taking a shot at.

Beat UT and Uk, and at least play LSU a close game (or beat them), and I would imagine he would be extremely impressed.

Would love to have this kid in the O&B.

There have been great WRs coming out of North Carolina for years since Shipp came to UF. That's just pure superstition.

North is a long-shot at best. I just don't see him joining a signing class with 4 other WR's already committed. If he does decide to jump on, it would be a great pick-up... one that I hope doesn't rock our boat.

And I hate to be a downer, but what has Tennessee done lately that makes our victory so great?? We played awesome, I don't want to take away from that, but it's Tennessee... They are who we thought they were at the beginning of the season... A sub-par SEC team with a coach who is on the hot seat.

If we beat LSU in a few weeks, then we can start judging our season.

I couldn't disagree more, stomp. You can't just assume that because UT has been bad the past few years that it's more of the same this year. There are a lot of indications that they turned the corner this year. They have three potential first round picks at the offensive skill positions and a pretty formidable OL. They have the biggest NT in college football, and we just wore him and the rest of the D down. The difference was physical stamina and mental toughness, but the Vols are a dangerous team that can hang with most in the country if they play all 4 quarters. Somehow we convinced them that it was better to say uncle. :)

So after we beat lsu are you going to down play them as well? We just beat what some may say is the best QB and offense in the SEC on the road with a sophmore QB and you are trying to minimize that? In the end, this team may not be able to satisfy everyone and I guess you fall into that category.

I also wouldn't say North is a long shot. He's not gonna shy away from competition like you make it sound.

Marquez North is probably going to take an official to Florida. North is also very good friends with DJ they talk and text all the time. Florida is recruiting him the hardest and his dad says he reads all the stuff we send him. Florida is definitively in the race.

Yes he has said things about want to be the man in a class but he would be the man in this class. He would be by far the most ready receiver, especially since he is enrolling early. Norths dad played college football so the family understand you have competition anywhere you go.

Do we lead probably not but there is a chance.

He retweetted two things last night after the game:

BOOM Co. ‏@Victoriam_Adsum
@Numero8_thebest Next NC boi that's gonna be a great Gator! #GatorNationStandUp

John Williams ‏@UFloridaGATOR07

He has played receiver for 1 year and last year wasnt the nest receiver on his own tean.

What he will be is a jordan reed type of atlete. When he runs, he sounds like a horse galloping.

His dad played pro ball and was a sprinter. He will also be a problem.

Yes. Cant say anymore really as ot would be obvious to Marquez and other coaches where the info came from.

He is fast, powerful, and a stiffarm that will break your neck. He has played RB 9th grade year, qb 10th grade, wr kr and this year. His wr skills are raw, but he is a good kid. Surprised he wants to "be the man" in this signing class. Doesnt sound like him at all.

His dad pulled the plug on his HS season because they didnt throw the ball to his son enough. His team had a reasonable chance to win state, had been playing with an injury all year and up and out of the blue decided that is enough, time for surgery.

LAGatorDoc
12-12-2012, 10:43 AM
He tore his labrum, same injury Silverman had... They both needed surgery. Silverman got like nine pins in his shoulder. He couldn't play with an injury like that

Lets just get Robinson and call it a day. I guess Norths dad cannot figure out that we do not pass as much for as few reasons. Probably the biggest being the wr's we have on board and their rout running. If he can live up to his hype, he will be on the field plenty as a Frosh and if his dad can get Game Day, he will be able to watch IF HE CHOO CHOO CHOOSES uf.

GATORAZ
12-12-2012, 11:23 AM
While he might be able to play with a torn or strained labrum I would just have the surgery and get ready for college. His father wants him to be on a team who throws the ball around nothing wrong with that.

Good thing there's usually more than just a handful of wide receiver recruits that come out every single year with stud potential.
If we sign all our current commits, my guess is that Agholor and Diggs fade from most of our memories before they complete their college careers.
But I agree that USC could resemble a dumpster fire before that time and Maryland is always crap.

How many awesome Wrs got drafted out of Bama the last few years? I think we will win a lot of games under Boom but lets be honest if you're a big time wr prospect, playing in a offense that throws it to the wrs as little as we do might not be all that appealing.

How about how many WRs at UF during the Spurrier years got drafted higher than Julio? What kind of meaningless point were you trying to make?

I wish we could have gotten Amari Cooper to look at us last year verses going to Bama. Kid can play. He had almost 900 yards as a true freshman. Or almost three times as many yards as our best WR.

Hopefully, someone's been staying in touch with him. Hopefully Joker has introduced himself. If he can pull it together, he'd be the perfect final piece to the this WR class.

Robinson was icing on the cake to say the least. However, I believe Peace has some very good talent to work with here and is this is a good class here. As soon as Peace can exhibit his true offense once the talent is in place, wr's should not be difficult to lure here.

IMHO, Fullwood has a higher ceiling than Robinson. (But what do I know.) My interest in Robinson was because of his advanced stage of development, plus the EE factor. He could contribute early at Clemson, but by their respective junior years, I see Fullwood as a thoroughbred in our offense. The rest of the group are really good too, and I don't mean solid. These are top drawer Florida players and superior athletes. Without another commitment, this is already the most promising WR class in a few years. Got some size. Got some speed. Got some with both, plus outstanding academics.

Never, ever underestimate the value of academic achievement in a player's background. Think of all the over-achiever's we've had just at WR who were stellar students, Alvarez, Chandler, Collinsworth, Doering, Willie Jackson, both McGriffs, Murphy and probably a half dozen more.
