Not at all.

I think the board is looking like this:

DT - Caleb Brantley

DT/DE - Antonio Riles
DT/DE - Demarcus Walker

DE - Joey Ivie

DE/Buck - Jordan Sherit

-----------------------------
I think if Sherit commits as a DE, then there could be room for Ogundeko to take Buck. 6 recruits at the DL this year is a bit of an unknown, since we took so many last year... but if we can get those kids and Ogundeko STILL wants on board, I think we would have to take him. But at this point, he's looking like the odd man out... unless Walker doesn't commit to us...

This class is shaping up to be a top three class. Sadly, i feel as though USC's class is too far ahead to be caught up with. But who knows with recruiting, anything can happen. My assumption is that we finish number 2 if all or some of those names commit to us..

I think this class is going to finish better than any fan thought it would a year ago. Incredibly balanced and incredibly talented. We've met our needs with excellent pickups, missing out only on a top QB.

QB - No way around it, we desperately need a top guy next year.
RB - Two monster recruits. KT could be the face of the franchise, so to speak, for the next 3 or 4 years.
WR - Needed quantity and we got it. Needed quality and we've come through in spades. Picking and choosing here, with a player like Bailey almost begging to get into the class.
OL - Needed quantity and measurables and we're getting both. I think we all expect one more, maybe Tunsil, probably someone else.
DL - Picking and choosing here.
LB - Needed quality and quantity and CWM has nabbed a great haul.
DB - We're looking at the #1/#2 DB class in the country for about the 3rd or 4th year running.

This is the kind of class that sets a foundation for the future.

USC's class is amazing, but they're numbers are about to start catching up to them... they can only take 2-3 more kids (don't quote me on that number). Which will penalize they're class ranking on all the major ranking sites. Not that those rankings actually matter :)

Dream scenario would be Walker,Sherit to finish up a stellar the D-Line/LB class

Marcell Harris to finish up a stellar secondary class.

Alvin Bailey to finish up a very good and underrated WR class.

The cherry on top would be Tunsil on NSD.

That's 24 recruits.. What is UF's limit?

Depends on who you ask. Safe to say it's anywhere between 24-27, have to take into accounts Early Enrolee's, Graduating Seniors, Juniors going to the Draft, and Players Transferring out.

With our class now and the momentum from tonight, 26 is looking realistic. I would imagine we would stop at 24/25 to hold a scholly or two for NSD.

Sweet get. With Bullard and Fowler in the last class, we needed a versatile developmental kid and Riles seems to fit the bill. He is big enough to play end in a 3-4 or upsize to a three-technique in a 4-3, but athletic enough to stay at end in a 4-3. Doesn't appear to be an edge rusher, but can be a physical end or a quick tackle.

The Riles commit is huge IMHO. He is a Georgia boy and everyone thought he would end up in their class including Riles. The Gators went up there and got him! This is a great class. We have gotten big time players at every postiton pretty much. There are a lot of classes that are filled with talent but sometimes they play a lot of the same positions. Look at FSU they have struggled getting OL's but their classes have been top classes. I don't see a weak spot in this class.

Yeah I know but he might actually believe what Saban is telling him. Saban tells that to all the D line and Lb prospects he really wants.

“I’ll give it to you straight,” Walker said. “I’ve always felt love from the coaches, but at first I didn’t feel like I could really trust them. After this visit, I definitely feel like I can. This time me and the coaches sat down and had more one-on-one than we’ve ever had. We were in the staff room basically all day and I kind of grew close with them. It meant a lot to me. I got to see more of what they’re about. So they helped themselves a lot because you have to play for coaches you can trust.”

I'm fine with USCw taking all the 5* on the west coast and having a #1 class. Lane Kiffin has yet to show that he can develop players. If there is one thing no one should dispute about Nick Saban, it is that he and his coaching staff develop their players exceptionally well. Yes, they are usually highly rated to begin with but there are too many examples everywhere of busts. Muschamp has not shown what he can do yet either, but if he approaches the developmental skills of his former mentor, USCw having top classes won't matter. Also, the depth at USCw will continue to be thin even in the years after the sanctions are lifted.

Oh... and welcome to Gator Nation Antonio Riles.

If there's one thing Kiffin is good at it's avoiding consequences. And if there are two things, then the second, for reasons surpassing understanding, is recruiting. USC's administration clearly scouted him well.

Right. See, this is the downside of "locking up" the top class before the end of January. Nothing is really locked up. Now, all those guys who "might take their visits" want to take them. I don't see Riles flipping, but we're talking about recruiting. Nothing is really ever as it seems.

I was trying to be somewhat positive about the whole thing. Sorry about that.

I read the article and it sounds like he likes the Florida coaching staff. Remember, all kids have good things to say about their visits, in-homes, unofficials, camps, etc...he just had a good meeting with Grantham, from what it sounds. He'll meet with the UF coaching staff before all is said and done.

I just think he sticks. Nothing in recruiting is absolute to the LOI gets faxed in, but I think Riles stays.

Riles might visit UT this weekend

Why?

Riles is starting to get the attention that might make him forget UF staff been with him all this time and that's what makes it dangerous.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pounder who has been committed to Florida since last summer said that Grantham “made it clear” that there was a UGA scholarship available for Riles, if he wanted it. “(Grantham) told me that Georgia is where I need to be,” Riles told the AJC on Thursday night. “He told me where I would be in the rotation and on the depth chart. He also said going to UGA would be good for my marketability.

“I’m majoring in communications, and going to Georgia would play in my favor for a career in that. I plan to move back to Atlanta after I finish college.”

Hopefully he has his head together and appreciates that the staff has been with him during the process and that a degree from UF and playing ball at UF will do as much or more for him over the long haul. But my worry is that UGA could have been his "dream" and he forgets UF recognized early his potential early and offered.

I imagine our staff is going to ask him, in some form, if he wants to go to a school that targeted other guys for so long and all but left him out of their recruiting process to this point.

I wonder if UGA wishes they had gone after Kelsey Griffin harder, or if they are trying to flip him as well now.

Anyone think this may mean Clemson or UF seems set to get Mont Adams?

ETGator1

ETGator1
01-25-2013, 12:40 PM
We've shot our guns with our visits and now he wants to go shop around. I don't think so. That's exactly what UGALY wanted. They get to wait on Adams as they are #2 and they get the chance to flip Riles on the final weekend. If he visits starting with UTn this weekend, I hope we have a backup plan and we execute it. If not, we need a backup plan. This is the frustrating part about following recruiting.

There is no given or guarantee that any of our commits is sure fire until their fax is received. Why do our coaches visit and revisit and call and mail while they're allowed to until NSD? You're right! Today, a player's word is only as good as their signature.

Kids rarely stay focused, even if they're legacy types, unless they get on going love and attention. If they feel left out because they committed too early, then the Meyer's or Kiffen's or whoever could swoop in and steal them away. That's how Miamuh got Howard last year and we got Fowler from FSU.

There doesn't seem to be any rules that prohibit coaches from trying to flip players from other schools as they guard their commitments from being flipped! And I thought politics was down and dirty. Remember Meyer saying that the SEC has issues that he didn't like and wanted to get away from? Was he talking about recruiting? Now, he's trying to raid Oregon's commits since they've had a head coaching change! Go figure!

I have lived in Alpharetta, Georgia for 22 years and we like to refer to the AJC as the ATHENS Journal & Constitution........... Georgia Tech fans go crazy over the amount of press that they give to Georgia versus them. Mark Bradley is by far the worse...... He is so far up Mark Richt's butt it is embarrassing..................... Called Coach Spurrier the "Evil Genius", Coach Meyer the "Urban Cryer" and was always bad mouthing Coach Donovan......... until of course he was back-to-back National titles.
