I swear, if I hear "eating healthy" one more time I'm going to scream (don't do it!).
So, you can imagine how I react to "Sugar is evil" and "grains are killing us." Americans are going mad. We're the fattest major nation on earth, only the 40th in life expectancy ... and the most food-obsessed people on the planet.
First, fat was making us fat. Then, carbs became the enemy. Now, high fructose is the bad boy on the block. ANYTHING to distract attention from eating too much overall.
Don't say it it!
Don't ...

THAT is exactly what I'm saying. Only that's the one thing we're afraid to ask people to do. So, you see diet books entitled "Add To Your Plate To Lose Weight" but you never see titles like "Eat Less, Weigh Less."

There's another sore point. The Paleos would say you're eating healthy.

That's healthy as long as you eat smaller, more frequent guys.

Hehe, nah. I've met my fair share of food fanatics this week at networking events. Waves of food nuts descend on me when they find out I'm a fitness trainer. They probably assume that I'm the guy who waggles my finger at people for not eating more healthy.

while ive never been fat my weight does fluctuate some. ive found that if i do 2 things then my weight stays down and i feel better: 1) at each meal i try to quit eating when im not hungry anymore (as opposed to being full) and 2) if i try to cut as much wheat out of my diet i do much better weight-wise as well as feel a lot better (more energetic, etc).

As the difference between feeling satisfied and feeling full can be upwards of 1,000 calories ... I'd say you're onto something!

for me that difference can bet 2-3000 calories....i can start eating and not stop for a long long time.
I am essentially almost always kinds hungry---but have NO biological needs at all to keep eating---I just love feeling very full....which when I give into---results in BIG weight gain.

mastoid, sincere question: at which point you no longer have the opportunity to go rampaging through the Alps, how successful do you expect to be in dialing back the eating to compensate for the marked decline in prodigious activity ?
