Coyle seems to be either Washington or asu.
Nice pickup with Tofft. She is decked out in her Gator gear on twitter.
I think both Fagan's have to sit a year, because of the SEC transfer rule.

What a bunch of B.S in thart article.and other articles. These model citizen star athletes were just minding their own business and they were suddenly dismissed from the team and they don't have a clue why because those mean old Gator coaches are mean and react hastily. yea, right.
I blame their dads. Where is the parent who says they made a mistake and they have and will learn from it and they will take reaponsibility for their actions? Instead we get nanny nanny booboo plenty of other schools want the girls so there. Waaa.
If you find cancer, cut it out.
Glad their gone.

I agree with you, Raid. That story leaves the impression that these girls were dismissed for no reason. There is no reason to smear these girls with all sorts of details on what happened. But there also is no reason to put out a story that says these girls are saints and were dismissed wrongly.

“The bottom line is that all those rumors are just rumors,” Kasey said. “We were never given a reason why we were released from the team. We were just told we were released. So I can't tell you why, because we don't know. All the other stuff that happened, a lot of it is rumors. It's hurtful that people would say that kind of stuff, but people will think what they're going to think.
“That people would assume things about us that aren't true, that part of it hurt.”
I found this quote interesting.

Hey, kasey, if you want to put an end to rumors, then tell your side. No coach dismisses 3 starters for no reason at the most important time of the year. Their dad said there was an altercation. Is he lying, too? I actually liked kasey and Sami, but this whole world against us attitude, not to mention some tweets from Sami, leave a lot to be desired. They may indeed be good kids who made a poor decision, but playing the victim card is tired and pathetic. Grow a pair. If you were released for no reason, then you have the legal system on your side. That was not the case. So if you read this and want the rumors to stop, address your actions that got you dismissed. Fagan's take after their dad, and ultimately, while they are adults, his coddling is to blame. There is a reason Walton didn't recruit the 3rd fagan. All 3 are a chip off the old block, Sami and kasey hid it better than Haley. maybe the sense of entitlement will wash away having to sit out a year. I don't expect a warm welcome when they return to Gainesville. The program and uf are better off without them.

What a puff piece probably orchestrated by the Dad and the Fagans. Coyle seems to be the only one that has shown any sort of remorse or class by pretty much staying quiet and out of the press. She was still supporting her former teammates on twitter the days leading up to and after the dismissal.
I think I'll stand with Walton and Foley on this one regarding why they had to go, and not with those 2 prima-donnas in their own mind.

They allegedly made racial remarks about some teammates...but Im not sure if it was on UF or on the travel ball team or both....which I think led to a little "scuffle" with Haeger because apparently she ratted them out...basically just a team chemistry issue

Well, they can tell their little fairy tale any way they want; what I know is Walton has gotten a lot of respect from Gators and rival fans alike for his firm stand on doing what's right, even at the expense of the team's post-season.
Takes a lot of guts, not to mention no small amount of self-sacrifice, to dismiss 3 starters in the regionals of the NCAA tournament (knowing you're likely ending your season) for the sake of righteousness.

Gatorcal, there is no link because it was an interview on KMOU, Channel 8 in Columbia. KMOU is the j-school's TV station. It has professional anchors like Chris Gervino for sports who did the interview. But most of the stories and done by j-students. One of the reasons why Mizzou's j-school is so good. Gator in Georgia, Fagan was no 250 hitter. She was the gator's leading hitter at 386. She is a star, maybe a troubled star but a star. Coach Earlywine is kind of a loose cannon but he did sign C. thomas when nobody else wanted her.
Angaza
07-04-2012, 11:49 AM
That's a pretty condescending statement from him. We don't have these situations often enough for him to say Walton can't handle superstars. It's not like Walton kicks out great players regularly. And if he has no problem taking her with the team issues she's had here good for him.

The reason no one is posting what they know is twofold:
1. It will get taken down.
2. It's second and third hand knowledge most likely. How to you expose something you heard and didn't witness if it could be wrong? Even if it comes from a great source?
I heard the story from a very good source, but again it's just a person close to the program who repeated a story. It definitely sounded right - as in, the things I have read here (that were taken down) and on other boards were mostly substantiated and put in context.
Just suffice it to say that the story is NOT a good one. And it has to do with racism, lying, entitlement, fighting and all around poor judgment (I'd like to say poor character, but I don't know the girls personally. Though I will say that hearing the story made me question the character of these girls.).
It's never good to see a program this strong crumble in this way, however, in the long run this team will be stronger for it. I cant wait for next season when these great young athletes show what they can do with a year or two of experience under them. But damn, I'm going to miss watching Moultrie play :)

This pretty much sums it up. When people say things like "it involves racism" they're basically attacking someone's character without substantiating any of the claims (despite the fact that others "close to the program" have refuted such claims). What's the purpose of that, and how would you feel if it was done about you? Sometimes we're such gossip mongers that we forget to treat people like human beings.

A minor point is that the newspaper article is from a writer on the Ocala paper, not the Sun. The two papers share a lot of resources and Ocala articles sometimes appear in the Sun. My guess is the author is the high school writer for Marion Co. who covered the girls in the past. There was nearly no Gator info in the article.
There is no effort to find out the real background, just an update on the local girls and what they're doing these days. I won't argue that the Sun sports section has tough investigative reporting, but this one is pitiful. The reason that the pair are news is being booted. I'm surprised he didn't comment on the girls' recent visit to the nails salon.

Wes gator I second everything you said. People who know what took place do not wish to hurt anyones reputation. On the other hand some things are so PC in todays society that folks seem to miss seeing the forest while they're looking at the trees. Some things are just better left unsaid. Good luck to both those girls!

Huh. I went to Gatorzone to look at the roster and it says "The 2013 Gator Softball Roster is not available at this time." A quick Google search doesn't say anything about Haeger leaving.
There's nothing on her Twitter page, though obviously the staff banned the players from social media sites. That might be a good sign: if she wasn't on the team any longer she might well be tweeting again.

I didn't see Lauren out there last Friday, either. Man I hope we don't lose her. She's a beast in the circle and with her bat. As for Shuttie, she's definitely coaching Oak Hall. It's her and a few other former gators. I talked with one of the girls on the team, and she said Shuttie wants to be a teacher one day. That was one of the reasons why she went to Oak Hall. The girls are so excited to have her as a their coach. I told her, though, just because Brittany was a great college player, doesn't always translate to being a great coach. I'm looking forward to playing Oak Hall in the Spring. Well, the 14 year old is anyway. lol After the game, I have a funny feeling she's going to want to take a picture with her.
