Some of you have funny taste in shows. A lot listed weren't even cancelled before they ran their course or the creative forces behind the show decided it was time. And some like Arrested Development and maybe even Jericho could see new life again thanks to a Hulu or Netflix.
Personally I find there are more shows that stay on the air long past their time than their are shows that are canceled too soon.

NBC gave up on Freaks and Geeks way too soon in 2000. It was an Apatow hour long comedy that starred all of his regulars. No laugh track or stereotypical dumb teens. Just good realistic comedy. NBC sucks.

One of the funniest scenes ever on his show.
I guess I should have clarified RECENT shows. There are lots of shows that I wish were still on air. Chappelle is one of them.
I forgot that Blue Mountain State went off the air. I enjoyed that.
Lie to Me was excellent too.
Did anyone watch The Good Guys with Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford. I really liked that show. Was surprised it didn't stick.
Go Gators!
The major ones:
"Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" (this one will hurt for a long, long time)
"Police Squad!" (funniest show ever on TV, inexplicably dumped after 6 episodes but at least it spawned some great movies)
"The Ben Stiller Show" (wit that was way before its time)
"Arrested Development" (simply the best comedy of its generation)
"Hidden Hills"
"Sports Night"
"The Secret Lives of Men"
"The Good Life" (introduced Drew Carey to the world, although it should have lasted and introduced the FAR more funny John Caponera to the world)
The minor ones:
"Sledgehammer"
"'Til Death"
"Men Behaving Badly" (although after they dropped Ron Eldard & Justine Bateman, there was no reason to watch it)

That was horrific. But, I felt I needed to watch it, just to see it through.

I keep seeing chapelle and while I agree its definitely missed let's not pretend it was canceled. Comedy central wanted it on the air til the end of time and dave walked away.

Friday Night Lights
This was one of my wife and my favorite shows to watch. We actually own the full series on DVD and watch it any time we just want to enjoy something good. Even though was was probably "cancelled" (as compared to "concluded" by a creative decision, like Lost, Chappelle, etc.), they did a wonderful job ending this show. While NBC sucked for putting it on a night when the target audience isn't watching (because it's so "cute" to have Friday Night Lights on Friday night), then cancelling it for failing to obtain the ratings they wanted, at least they let it end properly (something that the D-bags at Fox never do when they dump shows before giving them a real chance to succeed).

Lie to Me
Let me say, I loved this show in the first season. I really enjoyed the premise, thoroughly enjoyed learning the actual science behind it, and thought the story lines were very interesting. This had the kind of hope of a success that Bones has developed.
That being said, things went downhill fast in the second season. The stories became pretty trite and the interesting science was largely recycled and replaced with the personal relationships of the characters, that weren't actually that compelling (their relationships, not the characters themselves).
But if it could have maintained that first season feel, I agree, this was a major entertainment loss.

Fox gets a bit of a bad rep because they cancel a lot of shows that people love. But they do take risks and are giving us 5 seasons of fringe when no other network would be as kind.

I still miss Firefly and Farscape as well as a number of other shows already listed and a few others besides.
When we were at ComicCon in SD last year, we made it into the audience for Eureka and the announcement was made that they would be back for more seasons. Then, immediately after we returned home, they announced that the final season would be six episodes and the show was cancelled after that.
It'll kill me if/when Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead are cancelled...
I actually liked the new "Bionic Woman" show. Kind of surprised they pulled the plug without even giving it a chance to find an audience.

The cancellation of CBS’ freshman drama Unforgettable was one of the closest calls this upfront season. Now the procedural starring Poppy Montgomery and Dylan Walsh is exploring a move to cable. I’ve learned that producers Sony Pictures TV and CBS TV Studios have had preliminary conversations with TNT and Lifetime about potentially picking up the series. Unforgettable, which centers on Carrie Wells (Montgomery), a New York detective with the ability to visually remember everything, would make sense for both TNT and Lifetime. TNT has had a lot of success with female-lead cop procedurals with The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles. Lifetime has tried hard to launch one with two recent series, The Protector and Against The Wall, both of which were cancelled after one season. Turner has been the most open to rescuing broadcast series with NBC’s Southland going to TNT and most recently Cougar Town moving to TBS.
When asked what went wrong for Unforgettable to warrant the cancellation after a relatively solid first-season run, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler said the question is not “what went wrong with Unforgettable but what went right with the new pilots.” Unforgettable averaged 12 million viewers and a 2.5 among adults 18-49.

Yeah, I'm surprised Deadwood lasted as long as it did. It was an outstanding show but after Season 2, there was nothing else left to give a crap about other than the characters themselves. And there was nothing left to do with them...how many times can you squeeze the c-word into one scene?...

I'm not necessarily sad to see it go, because it was starting to get worn out, but I wish they had wrapped up "Alcatraz" and let us know what the heck was going on. There should be a rule that says if you cancel a show like that early, you have to have a 2-hour "wrap-up" movie to tie all the loose ends together. Same thing would have applied to "Flash Forward" and "The Event".

They might actually get better ratings if viewers were guranteed that these types of shows would be wrapped up even if they were cancelled. For years, I wouldn't start watching any of these types of new series. If it got good ratings I might watch the reruns after the first season ended. I got suckered into watching Awake this season and it got cancelled. At the very least, they should explain where they were going with the series and how it would have ended.

The funny thing is, if shows were never cancelled, most of the ones mentioned in this thread would never have started to begin with.
MOI, that guy was also hilarious in a movie called Best Defense (an Eddie Murphy-Dudley Moore vehicle that was roundly panned...although I like it; it was when Eddie had made smash hit after smash hit and as when any actor does that, the critics were frothing at the mouth to destroy him at first chance...think it was a funny, small movie that they just didn't get because it was not a giant tent pole flick like BHC)

The Mind of the Married Man on HBO
Arrested Development
I consider the cancellation of Arrested Development the biggest entertainment travesty of all time. There was just pure goodness in all of the characters in that show, regardless of how shallow it was.
Both David Cross as "Tobias Funke" and Will Arnett as "Gob" were solid gold.

Heroes
Heroes first season was an incredible achievement of great storytelling, but the following seasons were just scattered after that.
The shows that I hated were cancelled?
Veronica Mars, Angel, Firefly, animated JLA/Unlimited series, Sarah Conner Chronicles, and Blade: The Series.
Sarah Conner Chronicles went nine eps. in season one until the writer's strike absolutely ruined the show because the writing was completely dismal after about the first three or four eps. into "Season" Two.
TSSC's and Blade had such potential but nobody would follow through on them.

Writers strike killed a lot of good shows. Pushing daisies was another one. I also really liked heroes season 1 but didn't hang around much after that as it just kept getting worse.

Agreed, but there are probably few on this board besides myself who know what The Prisoner was...
Was especially disappointed about Terra Nova. It was a show that everyone in our family could sit down and enjoy together.
