I am looking to buy an ipad soon and was wondering if it was worth to spend the extra $100 for the "NEW" ipad or will the ipad 2 work just fine?

Heh I still use the original iPad and it works wonders. Can't imagine the iPad 2 won't work for you assuming your normal functions are to search the web and mess with apps.

I made the jump from the original to the "new" because I wanted a camera and the screen was much nicer. Didn't have a 2 so I can't help you with that one.

I was back and forth between the MacBook Air and the ipad. I decided on the ipad and think it's worth $100 extra for the latest version.

New IPAD hands down.

Love mine plus I have a few friends that already want to buy my new IPAD when the 4's come out.

If you're doing wifi-only and do not need accessibility features, then I'd get the iPad2. Take a look at the screen difference, it's more significance to some folks than to other folks. If it's significant to you, you may find the improvement worth the cost.

The LTE wireless service is crazy fast... It is worth it just for that...

This is significant for me when I trip out of town.

Glad to hear that as I bought my first ipad today and went for the latest with Verizon Mobile Hotspot 5GB plan. Saved 20% ($100) on the ipad by also getting the Mobile Hotspot 4G LTE for $50 with the 24 mo contract. I've been wanting an ipad for quite a while but this wireless stuff is totally new to me so hope I did right.

I'm hoping I can eliminate Brighthouse internet service and switch to Direct TV as the cable pkg price is getting crazy. I 've read several people say that the Direct TV HD service is much superior to BH cable so another reason to make a change. If anyone has any suggestion I'd be happy for any advice.

I have a 4g mobile hotspot through Verizon and it is great for traveling or when you can't access other wireless. There are some drawbacks though. The battery life is pretty weak and that is universal across all the devices from what I am told. Plus the strength of the signal is dependent on the cell signal nearby just like any phone. So most of the time it will be great if you are near 4g. However in areas with bad signal its not gonna be as good.

I never use mine at home unless the internet were to go out. On the road though its been amazing.

I'm quite happy with my iPad 2 but I guess if the added specs are what you want then you should go for the iPad 3. Hmm, I heard there's going to be a mini-iPad? I wonder if there's any truth to that.

You must not use the internet much. I can go through 5GB of data in one day easily. Comcast has a 250GB cap on bandwidth and I'm always near that. I once used 444GB in one month.

I would rethink canceling your home internet service. You could literally surpass 5GB by watching a couple movies on Netflix and a few youtube videos.

The primary difference is screen resolution and graphics performance. I saw a difference when playing Infinity Blade, but for everyday use (browsing/email/movies/reading) the iPad 2 works just as well (and is just a hair lighter too).

Which one did you end up getting?
