This thread is worthless without pics. This list won't be as long as most my age. We buy and hold our cars.
My first car, a '59 Pontiac Star Chief with only 24,000 actual miles in 1971.
Note the fins, the chrome stars on the real quarter panel, and the little chrome
jet on top of the front fenders. (not my actual car, but this is exactly what mine looked like, except in seafoam green)

I see you hang on to your cars, too. I've come to believe that good preventive maintenance and repairs are cheaper than buying cars regularly. Currently owned:

98 F150 - 150,000 and running strong
96 Suburban -205,000 - overall in great shape...replaced engine at 197K

Late 40's Dodge sedan. I was only 10 and it didn't run but my grandfather gave it to me so I'm counting it.
55 Chrysler Windsor. Was passed down by my other grandfather. It DID run. Had it up to 110 on dirt roads near my house. Still too young for a drivers licence. We all do stupid stuff when we are young.
65 VW bus. It would do 75 downhill with a tailwind.
71 Datsun pickup.
81 Datsun pickup Diesel.
95 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel.
04 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel.
06 Mercedes E320 CDI Diesel. Great car. 40 mpg highway.
12 Mercedes S350 Bluetec Diesel. Picking it up in Germany in 2 weeks so I'm counting it too. I don't go through a lot of cars but my wife, on the other hand, has had:
Oh, my, now I have to remember all this. At 16, I started with a '68 Mustang. Then,
'75 Buick Skyhawk
'76 Camaro
A series of '72 - '76 GM products -- Olds Cutlasses, Chevy somethings, Buick somethings. My ex didn't like to work on cars and his brother-in-law sold cars, so we just traded whenever they broke. Which they did on a very regular basis. So when I met my current husband a long time ago in a world far away, I graduated to the following:
'81 Datsun Maxima (diesel)
'88 Nissan Maxima (5 speed)
'96 Eclipse
'96 Nissan 300ZX
'00 Nissan Frontier
'01 Dodge Ram 2500 (Cummins diesel)
'03 Nissan 350Z
'04 Dodge Ram 4WD (Cummins diesel)
'05 Infiniti G35 (6MT)
'06 Infiniti M35 (POS)
'07 Mercedes CLK550 (loved this car)
'09 Mercedes SL550 (I'm done.):zombie:

1. '92 Cadillac Seville - Grandfather died and parents let me use it as a high school car
2. '89 Mazda 6 - first car ever purchased. Bought it for $800 and after an alternator replacement this car worked awesome until the transmission failed two years later.
3. '89 Chevy Celebrity - bought this for a Taco Bell Burrito. Literally. My enlisted Air Force friend was handed a two year assignment to Korea at the last minute and had to unload his ride. He wanted $200 for it, but after I helped him box and mail his stuff he instead had me buy taco bell for him while we signed it over. Best car I've ever had.

I spent a large amount of the last three days in the Mazda dealership in Gainesville before purchasing a CX-5. I will say that Bobby was very enjoyable to deal with and didn't overly pressure me into purchase. I will also say that I looked at a bunch of Mazda 3s while my wife was looking at cars. They really are a nice little car especially with the new Skyactiv technology. They have a pretty much fully loaded one in the showroom that is still only 22k. Great car and you can haggle pretty well with them.

01 Ford Lariat first new vehicle I bought
03 Ford Lariat
08 Jeep Wrangler
09 Chevy silverado Z71
11 Chevy Suburban
And about 60 trucks for my company over the years. Chevy s-10's held up to 300,000 miles. Ford rangers did about the same. Chevy silverado's and ford f250's were good until 250,000. Big diesel isuzu's will last for about 500,000 miles. Have some new Nissan frontier and Dodge full size pickups that are pretty good so far. Being work trucks that employees abuse I was happy with the results I've gotten over the years. Especially with the smaller trucks

My list is exciting in the beginning and pretty boring towards the end but here it goes...
#1970 1/2 Ford Falcon (looked just like a Torino)
#1971 Mustang Mach I Fastback
#1974 Mercury Comet
#1971 Torino GT
#1970 Torino Cobra 429
#1969 Olds Tornado
#1968 Caddy Coupe de Ville
#1978 Ford F-150
1984 Toyota Celica GT
1986 Ford Bronco II
1987 Toyota Tercel
1989 Ford Bronco II
1994 Honda Accord LX
1994 Honda Civic LX
1999 Honda CRV
1999 Honda Passport EX
* 2001 Honda CRV Limited Edition
* 2010 Honda Accord LX
* 2012 Honda Fit
# is before I got married.
* Still own.
Obviously I now like Hondas. I can honestly say in 18 years I have not yet had a single major issue save one and that was my favorite vehicle of all the ones I have owned which was the 1999 Honda Passport 4x4 EX. I loved this truck. It was great inside, drove well with no roll at all and it looked awesome. The only problem was the transmission started to go with only 50K on it and coincidentally the first gas crunch hit so I traded it for my '01 CRV. The kicker is the Passport wasn't made by Honda. It was a re-badged Isuzu Rodeo.
The Toronado and the Caddy were both special deals from a buddy of mine during some "lean" times. Neither was my cup of tea but the price was right. My wife and I did buy matching Bronco II's and I still hang my head in shame except I bought mine first. After we bought hers (and keeping in mind this was pre-Internet) I read about Bronco II rollovers. Not good. :joecool: I really liked that Toyota Celica. I have fond memories of both the Torino GT models I have owned but both (like my Mach I) had engine issues inherited from previous owners.
On my radar right now as my middle age crazy car (I'm not into motorcycles since I laid one down on the Garden State Parkway in NJ in the early 80's ; ) is the Dodge Challenger. I loved them back in the day (remember the movie "Vanishing Point"? ; ) and I love the way they still retained the look from back then. I have to be fair though. I like our current Accord and Fit. They are both spacious (the Fit looks small but inside it's very roomy), they both get great gas mileage and they both look real good.

Listing all of them would be kind of like listing the women I've been with. Too many to mention and some just not my best choices. The only ones worth mentioning were…
'70 Datsun 510, first car
'72 Triumph Spitfire, for a year or so while at UF
'84 Buick Century, first new car to go with first real job
'96 Volvo 850 GTS Wagon w/ turbo and five speed manual, my rocket wagon
'12 Kia Sorento, great value for a new car, but hardly a worthy replacement
'03 Acura TL (S), the best one so far

Very late to the thread. I have owned many wonderful cars (three before I was 17). The first when Dad wouldn't let me buy a Cushman Eagle. I was 13 and he was right. He loved old cars and hot rods. With my $125 lawn mower money and his $125 we bought a '35 Chevy coupe(that I immediately tore the clutch out of it in the groves of Winter Haven learning to drive).I could list them, but it is a 50+list. Currently completing a '61 Chev 409
Biscayne. I have 7 heh now and Chevy is my choice, however, still have a Ford Cobra kit car I would be happy to move. Love cars, but not as much as Gators!

Nope, traded it in. That car was cursed, I swear. Among other things I had the plaster ceiling of the garage cave in on it twice. It was a fun car, but just wasn't the same after an accident I had and wasn't terribly practical. I thought about trading it in for a 5.0, but couldn't justify spending 40k+ on a mustang so I went ahead and got the car I really wanted and had it custom ordered to my specs

Alpha, I had a 1975 and in four years, I had to have the rust around the front windshield repaired three times. But the straw that broke the camels back was when the second cam timing belt decided to let go when it was barely on the car 14 months....of course by that time it was out of warranty. Did a real number on the engine as I was doing about 4500 rpm in first gear at the time.

I had a 1974, when I lived in South Carolina. I bought it used with very low mileage. It was only 2 years old. I drove it to visit my mother in Lake Wales. The Trans/axle blew up literally the moment I got in Lake Wales. it was such an exotic transmission that the mechanic who worked on it told me upfront that he had never seen anything like it. He worked on that sucker the best he could, I know. When I went to drive it out of his garage the tranny locked up in literally just a few feet out the door. I never even got out of first gear! I had to leave it and borrow a car to get back to my job in South Carolina. That poor mechanic had to take that damn trans/axle set up all apart again and rebuild it. He never charged me any extra for doing this. I picked the car up several weeks later and drove it back to South Carolina. I can still remember how I had to nurse that Tranny all the way back for fear it woud give out. I unloaded that thing on a trade-in as quickly as I could. So much for Fiat X 1/9's!

Jugg, that Boss 429 was officially listed by Ford at 375 Hp but that was all PR to let buyers get better insurance rates. It was well documented by many speed shops with dynos that the actual number was in excess of 500 hp with over 450 ft lbs of torque. To say the least they were real beasts on the drag strip. I had a buddy at work who bought one for his daily driver but he found out it wasn't suited very well in that roll. Also he couldn't resist the urge to light up the tires and went through three sets of rears in four months. After a year he sold it and got something a lot less powerful.

After nearly 100,000 miles, my 2002 Saturn starting having strange electrical problems. Reverse lights not working (checked bulbs and fuse), then A/C not always running, followed by door locks not working, and finally power window issues. Looked at several cars, and finally found ourselves at a Honda dealer. They had one 2012 Civic Hybrid left, gave us $2K for the Saturn (guess she behaved) and a good deal. We've had the Hybrid for a few weeks now and easily go 500 miles a tank at around 48 mpg.
Still will take a long time to make up the cost difference between comprable regular Civic and the Hybrid, but we tend to keep our cars for at least a decade. Besides, my work takes me to California regularly, where gas is close to $4.50/gallon these days.

With those gas prices, I might even consider a hybrid. The biggest suprise re my Vette is that I get close to 30 mpg on the highway (where I do most of my driving) and average between 24-25 per tank. Not hybrid material but incredible for a car putting out 436 HP.

My 2011 V-6 Camaro gets 30 on the highway when driven gingerly so your vette is getting great mileage I'd say.

I just like buying cheap cars and driving them for awhile. Some I've fixed up for profit, some I've driven until they died, and some I've traded. Only a few were actually financed, but all were modified to my liking.
My most recent purchase, the 300C SRT8, is my overall favorite by far. The WRX is a close second (those mountains in UT were a blast). My third favorite would have to be the 1987 Regal with a swapped-in GMV8.

(not my actual car, but this is exactly what mine looked like, except in seafoam green)

i'm reviving this thread because i have to add one to what i have owned. the beloved silver mustang. r.i.p.
totaled by a crazed full rack buck in rutting season on a parkway.
and wanted to add that i didn't think i could be happier in another car, i think maybe i am. i think i DO love my Eclipse. it sure as hell is better in this snowy/cold/wet/icy weather up here than the mustang was. and i sure do like those creature comforts that a fully equipped eclipse gt has, those heated seats mmmmmmmmmmmm.....those defrosting mirrors..that climate control...and most of all, that front wheel drive!!!! and i found one with a manual transmission. most people, old timers like me, have seen my mustang on these pages. it's time to post the eclipse (not today though, i gotta get her a bath, we just had snow/ice...and she's gotten mucky with road junk and brine. ugh.

Perfect commute car and grocery hauler for my better half. Handles great, rides well, the most solid car you can buy in that segment, and gets over 40pmg mixed city and highway driving.

I've owned Ford trucks my whole life...until last June. Bought my last Ford (pic below) new in September of 98 locally...love that truck. Most significant problem was replacing two coils that went bad. Other than that it's just been routine maintenance, almost all of which I did, for the past 14 years. It was hard watching someone else drive it away when I finally broke down and sold it last month.

I knew it was time to look for a new vehicle, and I never imagined then that I'd buy a Toyota. Took a trip over to Port Arthur this past May in a TRD 4WD and I did half the driving. That was enough to sell me on considering a Tundra. When it came time, nobody could touch the deal I got on this truck in Meridian, MS. Bought a one-way plane ticket to Jackson on Southwest and the dealer picked me up at the airport. I've been really happy with it...tons of room (have two kids; the back cab is huge), incredible power and a very comfortable ride.
