I had a local repairman replace the desk and reload my computer. I have all my original disk. Two areas are not to my liking and thought someone might have some ideas:

1 -My computer is now loaded with Open Office (Sun). I prefer Word. However in researching my original disk, Word is not listed as a separate item. Perhaps the disks gives a menu when loaded, however if my memory serves me right, one just slips the disk in and loading commences.

Is there a way to load my Office 2003 that would include Word and delete Open Office entirely? Or should I get my repairman to do same. I paid $100 for the hardware and labor to load and update all programs. Which seemed like a good deal.

2 -I have my favorites on my laptop. Is there a way to transfer this info to my desktop that would include the description and actual email address?

Thanks in advance.

As you know, Open Office is made by Sun and Office 2003 by Microsoft. They are basically competitive products. The big question is whether Office 2003 came preinstalled on your computer or whether you purchased it separately. It sounds like you may have a DVD or CD disc that contains Office 2003. If so, insert the disc and follow the instructions. You will need the license key which is usually on the disc case.

You can go to the Control Program -> Add/Remove Programs to remove Open Office.

Favorites are normally associated with a web browser. Assuming you are using Internet Explorer you can create a file that contains your favorites using Import and Export … from the File menu. On your laptop start Internet Explorer and select Import and Export … from the File menu. Click on Export to a file, click Next , select Favorites and click Next (twice as the second one is to copy all your favorites). You will now need to name the file containing your favorites. If your two computers can communicate via the network then place the file on a location that both computers can access. A simple way is to use a USB flash drive to transfer the file.

On your newly recovered computer you basically unwind the steps you took on the laptop. Open IE, go to Import and Export … and now specify that you are doing an import. Select Favorites, click Next and then specify the file name your wrote from the laptop. Click Import and you should have your favorites back.

Hope this helps!

If you still have the Office disk it will generally come with a key. If you have that, you can reinstall.
