Neal's in the ESPNU 150 Watch List.

I imagine you say this because it might mean we don't have room for Marcell Harris now?

yes it is dont know what to say
I'm not sure he's spoken to the coaches yet. The person who broke the news appears to have jumped the gun...
We'll see.
I could not find any video of him.. anyone??

Neal's in the ESPNU 150 Watch List.
And a 4-star on Rivals, not exactly low profile.

Harris is still in the fold. LMQ3 and Nick Washington could both be CBs and not safeties.

If we offer a player, what makes that offer committable?

Great find, Nicho.
Top-notch in the box safety...can really lower the boom. Not so sure I want to see him playing a lot of Cover-1 or Cover-2 though...

Lower the boom is right. Vicious hitter. They probably should have cut away before the flag was thrown for him standing over the player he knocked out. LOL
I thought he showed nice hands and quick reaction on the INT at 3:40. But I realize effective pass coverage is a lot more than those things. Just seems like there wasn't enough in that footage to judge his coverage skills. Maybe that was by design...

I think the kid can hit but I am going to need to see more tape to really see what kind of athlete he is. He has to cover in the system we play

he puts some seriously brutal hits on some guys in that vid, but he does it right. He engages his arms to wrap and he's always got good position of shoulder and head to avoid injury as well as the possible "head-hunting" penalty.

That's exactly who I was thinking of while watching. Major was also pretty raw in coverage when he showed up as a freshman, but he put the work in and is now collecting an NFL check. Hopefully Neal follows the same trajectory.

The name was familiar. He's been on radar for a while. Surprised that we would take commitments from two DBs this soon though.
Also Texas A&M is closing in on a lot of recruits in Texas. A&M has 8 commits and all are from Texas. Joining SEC sure seems to attract a lot of recruits.
Meanwhile, Texas Longhorns has 0 commits on Junior day. They brought in a third of their class on Junior day the last few years. Wonder how much of those early recruiting credits go to CM.

I made that statement in jest, but I believe it as well. TAMU and Mizzou couldn't have picked a better time to join the conference, in the midst of an unprecedented national title streak. That crystal trophy has universal appeal, and kids in the Southwest know how to maximize their chances of holding one just as well as Southern kids.
Isn't Mack Brown leaving?
His contract runs through 2016. Texas AD recently recommended a 4 year contract extension to keep him until 2020.

The video just doesn't show enough of him in coverage to give anybody a good read on that. But he'll undoubtedly contribute in run support.

He is already 200lbs and runs a 4.4 I would think Safety and LB are an option. I would assume he stays at safety. Now I wonder how many DB's we take and who is slotted to go where as in Safety or Corner.

Nicho, the link you posted says that he switched to safety from LB his junior year. That would explain why he's great in the box but might have to work on coverage.

We will have room, as some kids are coming in January and some of current signing class may not make it in due to grades.
All 10 commitments are from Florida.. Last recruiting class had a total of 12 recruits from Florida. I think the strategy could be clean up the state and then cherry pick nationally for about 5-8 spots..
Out of 10 commits, only 3 are on offense. Looks like our offense and defense would be similar to Alabama or LSU in few years.. A lot of emphasis on defense and an efficient offense good enough to win the games...

I would assume we try and get all 3. Washington can play corner. Neal could play LB maybe.
That being said Hargreaves dad might be hard to beat out. And McQuay seems to like Vandy a lot

They're all plus-ones. Hargeaves is probably the longest shot, but we'd take him even if we had the other two. He's probably the best CB in the 2013 class.

I see Harris moving to LB in college. I guess if he can cover and has enough swivel to him then he could be one of those very rare huge 220+ safeties. IMO there is now way he does not gain at least 15 pounds in college.

I don't think he's even an in the box safety. It's more about his instincts and how far away from the LOS he's accustomed to playing. Louis Oliver played at free safety when he was bigger than any of our LBs. He had the speed, but more than that, he was used to playing with the whole field in front of him. Even if he's got LB potential, we're about full there. Sounds like Washington is going to be a CB and Neal will be a SS. I think Harris is getting first shot at FS.
