The demo came out yesterday and gave access to both single and multi player.
The single player is as you would expect considering how good mass effect 2 was. More of the same, while they did add slightly more to the leveling system, but still it is mass effect 2.
The multi player though is actually really really good. It plays like horde mode, but with persistent leveling. Meaning if you want to beat the harder levels you are going to need to put in some time to get your character strong enough. You get to roll each class, but they level independently.
Besides experience you can get credits from in game missions (which are overly simple), you can then use these credits to buy random packs of stuff which may contain items such as new stronger weapons. Luckly the weapons are shared between all classes. Once again it is like horde mode, with battlefield style unlocks and random unlocks.
It is pretty fun, I recommend giving it a try. If you did not play battlefield the multiplayer unlocks feb 17.

I'm hoping I can find the time to play it. I am lucky if I get to sign on to SWTOR once a week right now. I'll get to it eventually but grad school is really interfering with my gaming LOL.

I have downloaded the demo but i have not played it yet.
Question about the multiplayer though, is it some sort of co-op horde mode like gears of war 3? Where you and a few of your friends go against the CPU or is it like a 3rd person shooter multiplayer where you're facing other people.

When I first started grad school that was how it was. The semester after it though I became more involved in gaming again... And now I am about to finish my phd in electrical engineering. No real moral to that story other than the first semester of grad school is usually the toughest and the rest is kinda a joke (in my experience anyway).

It is very much like co-op horde. No competitive pvp aspect at all, which in my opinion is a good thing. That would kinda spits in the fact of all that mass effect is about.
Still very fun I suggest trying it out.

Borderlands should give it some stiff competition

Very true. I loved borderlands. Two should be pretty darn good, assuming they don't stray from the same recipe too much. Can't wait.

I'm done with RE for a while. After playing dead space, I can never go back!
