We already have Anthony McMillan, James Hearns, Caleb Brantley, and Adam Lane. I would do one, but the only recruits I know we are in for are the four mentioned above, plus the ones attending Junior Day next week. Anybody feel free to take a shot!

I think the majority consensus is that Bosa will be headed to Bama. It's a shame, he's a good prospect, but we should still get a good D-Line class to go along with our stud 12' class.

Just to give you some idea of how fluid things are, here's SU's 2012 Mock Class from roughly the same time last year:
QB Gray Crow
QB Tyler Cameron
RB Dami Ayoola
RB Danny Dillard
WR Latroy Pittman
WR Jamie Wilson
TE Sean Price
OL Omari Phillips
OL Brock Stadnik
OL Patrick Miller
OL Evan Goodman
DE Jordan Jenkins
DE Jelani Hamilton
DT Jonathan Bullard
DT Earl Moore
DT Pedro Sibiea
DE/OLB Tyriq McCord
LB Deaysean Rippy
LB Eric Striker
LB Dillon Lee
CB Donaldven Manning
CB Brian Poole
S Nelson Agholor
S Rhaheim Ledbetter
K Kevin McLaughlin
To be clear, I'm not reviving this to embarrass SUG. Far from it. I'm incredibly appreciative for all he does here. Instead, I think it's a really fun reminder of how much things change over the course of a year, even for the most informed among us.

Daniel's recruited at the BUCK, but yeah, if he's 250 lbs., he might outgrow it. All I know is that he has named us his leader and is really tight with Coach Young. Once we get him on campus, I think we'll get some good news.
I would have liked to have included more NC kids, but it's early and I'm not sure who has legit interest in UF besides Dane Rogers. And with us looking good for Daniels and Sickels, he was tough to fit in.

haha, yup. We did way better than my prediction.
I think it's a little easier this year since Muschamp targets/takes kids earlier, but I still would be shocked if I hit on 10 kids.
It's just way too hard to project OOS kids this early especially.

Yet you picked two or three OOS kids we are very likely to get. Really excited about Elijah Daniel. That will be a great pickup for Coach Young.
It's impossible to pick every out of state signee, but it's a good bet that we will get more than eight. I would expect them show up on the board at positions like WR and LB where we're currently looking at mostly Florida kids. It probably takes longer to evaluate the prospects from other states. Gotta think Durkin is going to keep it going in NC. Any chance with Kalambayi or Bryant?
I know this sounds crazy, but I like Stacy Coley more than that 2012 WR from Maryland. What was his name?

This isn't a bad shot at all.
Quinton Powell and Demarcus walker are very realistic.
North looks like he's going to UGA and Clemson. We were in Kalambayi's top 2 awhile bakc, but Clemson might be tough to beat. I would estimate we're in Cardiello's Top 2, but his mom went to FSU and he grew up in Tally so FSU fans think he's theirs to lose.

Sorry to ask it in so many threads. I don't know if it was just the process with one kid, sounded like more than that. But an area high school coach who is fairly well respected mentioned to me today that Meyer's staff seemed to work harder than the new staff, at least with his school. His impression was that Florida started out strong, but then backed off. I guess he never ran into that with Meyer's staff. It is not a fly by night high school program either. A top 5 coach was on his campus not long ago.
Maybe they just aren't recruiting that school as hard. Are you fairly confident in Quinn's recruiting abilities? It seems like there is alot of Jacksonville talent coming out in 2013. I hope we are in good shape in that area.

Mike

Under Meyer, the Gators allowed FSU to dominate the area, especially First Coast. Maybe they did work harder, but the results weren't very good. On the flip side, UF just landed the best LB in the state from First Coast, and can land Nick Washington when they say go.
Sounds a little sketchy to me, but thanks for sharing.

I thought about our lack of scholarships going into the next cycle. But i also thought about how badly attrition has hit this program lately and the few talented jrs who might leave after having a good season this year.
Also, we just have so many needs that i felt i had to portray in this mock class.
I hope for our sake that we can't sign 26. Go Gators!

Forgive me for interjecting, but....
High school coach/college coach relationships are funny things. Being a "fly on the wall" from both sides I've seen it. Su is correct, and probably you and your source, also. Know quite a few coaches (on both ends) that just believe showing up and paying ahlms to a high school coach works wonders. You know, the college coach shows up, says "hey coach, really like what you're doing here", maybe even throw in a few questions about what he's running... and they just eat that crud up. Think they are the cock of the walk and talk good about that coach from then on. Doesn't necessarily translate into recruiting cause A) might not have anyone you're interested in and B) coach might not have that much sway with a givin recruit if he did. Give Quinn time, maybe he's just not a fraud.

I've thought about it and looked back on my mock class. I would take RB Webb off the list; i think UF will be content with two backs in this class given the lack of scholarship numbers available. Especially if they are stud backs like Lane and Taylor.
Also i should not have added LB Deebs. I think getting McMillian, Hearns, Kelsey Jr., and Daniel at Buck will be enough numbers to make up for only signing two last cycle. That cuts my mock class down to 24, which i really think is the ideal realistic number for this class.

Anything larger than 23-24 is being very, very optimistic. Or pessimistic, I suppose. In any case, there's going to a real numbers crunch at 23 as it is. Anyone saying 28 is off their rocker.

Not even the coaches know what the number is going to be until after the season when players decide if they are going to the draft or not. Plus there could always be transfers

Dont worry about the numbers the coaches always figure it out but if we get the kids we want probably 23-25

The roster numbers are always in flux, but I believe we are at 64 headed into the summer. We'll be getting (I think) 16 in before the fall, for a total of 80. We lose 12 seniors/red shirt seniors putting us at 68 at the end of the season, leaving room for a class of 17.
So the starting number for the 2013 class is 17. Like I said, we're at a numbers crunch already at 23. Losing six more players to attrition after having lost so many last season is a bit of a stretch. Losing four or five more on top of that is basically impossible.

Won't know what the real number will be until you look at the number that enrolled early from last class, then take that away from the total from this yr, then you will have the extra room to count back to the previous yr. Plus you don't know if we will have any transfers or if we will have any leave early, injurys........ So time will tell. I wouldn't think we would take anymore than 25.
And the deal with Alexander, I talked to some of the coaches and he is holding off on a decision, to see what indeed will happen with his brother. I have watched this kid play since pop warner and he is a stud at corner. Hope we can get him, would hate to see another end up in miami.

We're going to be back counting, but the 25 number isn't the problem. With such a small graduating class next year we're going to be right at the 85 cap.

Yeah, that's what i thought, that it was right around that 22 number. Thing is, with the class of 15 we have in the fold now, you probably expect to lose at least one out of that class as a "near-certainty" (because 75% of the time there's always someone who changes their minds late).
But we have plenty of room left to continue to address our needs and fill the spots we need to.
This should be a very, very solid, depth-filling class for us.

Man, the more and more I dwell on it... My gut is telling me Coley is Clemson bound. No inside infoz here, just a gut instinct. And it would be a logical choice for him. If he wants to get into the NFL early, then Clemson is a team that has proven they can take a freshman and turn him into a star.
sbcg8r

Stomp, I understand that perception, but Clemson had absolutely nothing to do with Watkins being a "star". That dude is a "star" period- no matter where he plays.
StrangeGator

If Coley doesn't end up at UF, it's because of academics. If academics keep him out of UF, he's not a sure thing at Clemson. There's not a big difference between the two programs as far as admission standards, though Clemson has a good reputation for supporting kids with shaky academics.

Here's hoping we can land several quality Wide Reciever/offensive playmakers and Big Uglies for the O-line.
IMO those are the areas of most obvious and pressing need. Really everything else seems to be take studs or leave it.
O-line wins games a heck of alot more than any other positions.

I can't complain though, Coach Muschamp has been quietly building up the team's depth and this class seems to be doing a great job at OL and WR so far. He's addressing our needs and steadily getting them filled in.
He's gettin' it done IMO.

I agree he's gotten results that are positive Gray, but we still need to concentrate on these areas of need IMO. Tunsil, for example is not just a loss for us if he goes somewhere else, but obviously becomes a big gain for wherever he lands.
Same for top WRs.
It really did suck to lose both Agholar and Diggs this last cycle. There's no denying that.

Walker is liking Bama pretty good right now...hasn't been back to UF in a while.
Both Ivie and Sherit have cooled, and one or the other wants a Bama offer.

McQuay named a top 3 yesterday of Vandy, USC, and Michigan.
VH3 playing ...for his dad... at home... for USF is highly likely, and we've offered a few more, so i just think our 2nd CB comes from elsewhere.
with Tunsil, I just feel like with FSU coaches there...ehhhh, it'll be pushed on him "anywhere but UF".
don't get me wrong, at first glance that's a list I'd love to be wrong about...but from everything I've been reading, it doesn't appear likely.

Add Harris and we're probably done at DB. Maybe one more corner. Pencil in Sherit at DE. He can play SS or Buck. If we get a pure Buck, I like Ebenezer Ogundeko. He's about the perfect size and we got on him before he was on anyone's radar, even Rivals. They now have him with four stars and he's the #12 WSDE. I still think Walker will be a Gator, but not sure he'll be a DE. If he's 275 his junior year in high school, how big will he be as a sophomore or junior in college? Jaye Howard added 70 pounds in three years.
I think we lose an LB and add one or two more. I'll take a stab in the dark and say Larenz Bryant. Anzalone is a possibility. At DT, we keep Brantley and get either Hill, Pagano or Latham.
On offense, add Tunsil, Demarcus Walker, Taj Williams and Ryan Green. Looks like we whiffed at QB unless the kid from Connecticut gets a legit offer.

I would love this class. But I think the coaches should move away from Lawson if we're trying to recruit guys who do it the "Florida Way." Put the full court press on Anzalone. Also, I don't think there's any chance we pull Dawson away from the home town school, when they're looking to have a big year and probably end up with the concensus #1 recruiting class. probably a UGA/UF battle, and i'd guess UGA with a slight lead being the home state school.
Dawson is a versatile OL and friends with Cam Dillard i think, so there is a little recruiting going on behind closed doors i think. Theres also a sleeper OL in Georgia thats huge that might visit this summer i think...
I'd guess(i think this makes a class of 25)
WR...Robinson...Coley next in line, then Bailey(dont think he's been offered yet though)
QB...Woulard
OL...Sleeper/Tunsil + Dawson
DT...Walker + one of Gilmore or Daniel
Buck...Riles or Sherit
Saf...Harris, McQuay or bust
CB...VH3 will have his spot as a +1 no matter, but if i had to guess, i'd go with Cameron Sutton.

24. S - Nick Washington - 6'0" / 180 - Jacksonville FL 4*
25. S- Keanu Neal - 6'0" / 200 - Bushnell FL 4*
- the stars are what i think recruiting services will list them as at the end of the process, not right now.
--It is my belief that if the coaches don't like what they see out of Woullard this weekend and the upcoming season, that they will not offer him, and not go after a QB this season. Numbers are already tight, it wouldn't be too bad of a thing to have an extra spot in this class for another highly touted player.

Yeah, there would have to be a lot of attrition, i understand that. I obviously do not think that there will be the kind of transfers like there were last season; but it is definitely possible that there will be a few Gators jumping to the NFL early this season. I really don't think that 25 is a totally outrageous or unrealistic number for this season.
And i would like to see us stay steady with signing 22-25 every cycle.

It feels like you guys are pretty close to right, though I feel lukewarm about both Ogundeko and Walker as far as their committing to Florida goes. It seems like a lot of us had Ivie on our mocks, which is awesome. Some people on another thread said they seem like we are in good shape with Walker, Sherrit, and Ogundeko as well. Considering that this will not be a large class in numbers, and we seemed to do pretty well at DL in our last cycle, who will be left out in this year's class?
Will it be Ogundeko, because he is set to commit first?
Sherrit because he is more of a Buck position?
Walker because of his versatility?
OR do we take them all in the thought that we might miss out on another position (DB-OL)?
As much as i like all of these prospects, there just seem to be too many needs right now at other positions for us to be filling up the class with more DL. (just my opionion)

I agree with your probable list and think we land all of those guys. With Sherit I see VHIII tagging along as they have been very close throughout the process. I believe our fourth WR will be Chris Thompson and he may be the next guy on board. OL is tough and I know we are not out of it for Tunsil but I would say its either he or Crowder at this point. We are also going to take another DT whether its Pagano, Gilmore, Adams, or someone but that will be another position we fill.

I heard he's extremely interested in UGA because they will use him in more pulling and moving type blocking and he's not exactly sure if UF will. 19. / 20. 2 of Ogundeko, Sherit, and Walker
21. 1 wide out hopefully D Rob since he's coming to FNL

23. VH3

No doubt he wants to be a Gator, and he'll likely drop UGA like a bad habit the second he got an offer. He'll be at FNL supposedly, but when he committed to UGA he had some not so flattering things to say about feeling slighted/slow played by the UF coaches. He also said then he wouldn't be coming to FNL, but has since changed his tune apparently.
I think Thompson gets the offer before Davis. I think Reggie is a little shorter than his listed height, and Thompson is right there at or above 6'.

Adams was reportedly he best WR at the Team USA camp last week...(#2 impact guy regardless of position) Marqi hasnt played a lot of WR yet, so im sure he's pretty "raw".
"You have to love any player that practices with a game mentality, and that's Adams. He came to play every day, didn't get too high after big plays and just went after his business. He's an ideal college X, somebody who can annihilate man-to-man coverage, and always seems to find the soft spot against the zone. Adams isn't really elite at anything, but he's probably an A- in every category. He's fast, has nice size, is a good route-runner, bursts out of his breaks, and is a threat on 50-50 balls. He's the top skill position player here."

Ogundeko

D Walker
Obviously Walker is the highest rated and we really want him, so hes in. But do we want Ogundeko or Sherit, both? I just find both unrealistic with the numbers and other needs we have this year.
Of course recruiting is crazy but I'll guess. Ogundeko is going to pick us this month and we finish off the d line class with Walker on August 3rd, his decision date. Pretty good defensive line haul. Then Sherit follows his boy Travis Johnson to Miami. Honestly, I think that would seriously hurt our chances with VIII. It then makes USF the favorite for VHIII, Miami in second, and then us.

they are CWM and Quinn are recruiting him

I know but why would we take two bucks in a class where a spot is very hard to get. Especially when one of them is in our back yard. I would rather have Sherit and Walker then Ogundeko and Walker just because of Tampa. I'm not saying it's a bad thing but it's just confusing to me why we are even pursuing two bucks when were are tight with schollies and one is from Tampa

Ogundeko said in the video that he is getting recruited at buck, I hear that Sherit is getting recruited at buck, and Walker I guess is stuck at playing DE which is fine with me. I could be wrong but I thought that was how it was going down. Can you confirm anything??? Just trying to clarify here

Ogun is a Buck, yeah. Walker at 270 now is a college DT, but a lot like Floyd in that he can play outside as well. Sherit can prob play DE or Buck pr maybe even LB if Lawson doesnt stick like many think he doesnt. Theres a little flexability with these 3 guys.

You cant just recruit one kid at a position. There is a chance we get none of those guys. Sherit could be a buck but I doubt he ends up playing it he might be too stiff for the position.

Did anybody else see what Ira Denson tweeted to Ogundeko??? He asked him (don't quote me on this, I'm too lazy to go to my Twitter right now and copy and paste lol) "brah you still goin to Florida."
So I guess he was feeling pretty high about UF at the opening and let a few people know. He replied with "idk man I'm still thinking."
So hopefully this is good news. Whatever the case is I would absolutely love Odeko because one, he's a monster, and two, his name would look so good/intimidating on a Gator jersey

deep threat I was pretty confident Ogundeko would be a Gator when he left his visit. But a month is a long time.

Hopefully the staff is closing on him well. If he took the visit and we led and we still lead by a wide enough margin for him to tell Denson that he was coming to UF I feel pretty good about our chances. We'll see in a few days I guess

Anybody else heard Marcel Harris is supposed to commit at FNL? I'm hearing a lot of that lately

not that I have heard I would not be shocked but at the opening her said he was still evaluating schools. He hasn't even officially named a top 5 yet and I think Texas fans expect him to visit one of their first two games of the season.

Just went to FSU camp and new insider article on ESPN about it. Probably says that he "had a good time and got better", which is why I'm not an insider.

Good idea. I just posted the same idea on another thread, specifically asking GATORAZ to make his projection. I'd rather read them than make them. Just not that informed any more.
Maybe I'll drop by the old barber shop when I visit Panama City for the holidays. I think that's where I was when I heard that Emmitt Smith was going to be a Gator.
