Here's a prediction:

We'll hear (via news stories, ESPN, etc) a MILLION times how UF hasn't played a regular season football game west of Arkansas since the USC game in the early 1980's....

Doesn't matter what people say. If we can beat LSU at home and Tennessee on the road, we will have Vandy on the road and then 5 home games (counting Jacksonville and UGA) before we play FSU.

Texas A&M will be tough on the road but it is good that it is early in the season. Our defense will be more mature and have more depth, and I believe will set the tone for the rest of the season in that game.

Tennessee is another school that has no identity- similar to ours. They will try to establish it against us. Once again the problem any team will face against us barring injuries is a defense that will be one of the best in the SEC. If we can find a way to execute on offense, we can control that game also.

Optimistically, I say Florida can go 11-1, losing only to LSU, realistically, I give Florida 9-3 losing only to LSU, South Carolina and Either FSU or Texas A&M... and only 43 days till kick off!

From Sat. Sept. 22nd to Sat. Nov. 17th, almost 2 months, we have only one "road" game (calling a Jacksonville game not a road game) and that one is with Vanderbilt.

Looking at a 2 month stretch with only a single away game, and that one not being with someone like LSU or Bama, I'd say we have a pretty good schedule if we survive our first 2 away games and have a pretty decent offensive improvement over last year.

I agree that FSU may actually not be all that great; they just don't have that SEC-caliber defense necessary to win it all, ya know? Their offense is stellar, of course, but we match up pretty well, especially in terms of our linebackers and their running backs.
