DISCLAIMER: I'm not telling anyone to go out and get sick or stressed-out!

It's happened to you. It's happened to me. You get a nasty cold. Or you go through a period of stress. Days or, perhaps a couple of weeks later, you step on a scale and are alarmed to discover that you've lost 5-10 pounds. Maybe more. But why should you have been frightened since you were wanting to lose weight anyway ? Didn't you lose weight because, for whatever reason, you ate less for a time, perhaps much less than you were accustomed to eating ? If so, isn't there a lesson in there ? Just sayin ...

I have an 81-year old uncle. Over the past year he's lost about forty pounds. He looks much better and, perhaps even more importantly, is much more spry. For awhile there he was become increasingly feeble.

So, I asked him the reason for his success. His answer: as he's gotten older his appetite has diminished.

Now, some would be alarmed that he's lost his appetite. Yet, his appearance, movement and health markers have all improved. He's even speaking with more authority.
