Pretty cool article on CNN.com about gamers and why the characteristics translate well to fitness.

(CNN) -- They've been trained to focus for weeks at a time on a single goal. They know how to clearly identify obstacles and form step-by-step plans to overcome them.

They're obsessed with improving specific skills but judge success only by overall progress made in the world they've decided to conquer -- as realistic or fantastical as it may be.

It's precisely these traits that make video-gamers great bodybuilders.

Take a moment to laugh, if you must. Now hear us out.

As a gamer and a gym rat I see the appeal and am sure I am not alone.

Makes sense. Gamers often have obsessive compulsions at times. I know I do (as both a gamer and a workout fanatic). Cool article.

Hi LeafUF,
Very informative article and thanks for sharing it with everyone. Before that I always thought games are great for mind only as they makes mind active and open.

That probably explains why I'm neither a good gamer nor a good consistent lifter.

Great article, Leaf. Same here, I love lifting but I also love my video games

Not all of us gamers are scrawny, a lot of people are surprised to find out I usually play them, but they're fun and they can help you with certain things, like I would definitely say my hand-eye coordination and reaction timing has improved from playing games.

Somehow I think Skyrim will have a negative effect on my fitness when it comes out in several days.

Dude, it has been rapid fire lately. I went from Infamous 2 at a leisurely pace to Arkham City which I am about to finish and move on to Uncharted 3 before I even get to Skyrim. Thankfully, I dont think I have any other games on my wish list until Mass Effect in March. So, I will be spending most of my gaming time with Skyrim.

I am fortunate to have the schedule that allows me to work out in the morning and keep my afternoons and evenings free for other stuff.

If anyone is interested I just got into the fitocracy beta and it seems I have some invites. You can also try to get an invite through the Leangains site which is where I got mine.

Seems like a cool site. After logging a few workouts I joined the Skyrim group, cant say many other fitness based sites would have that as a group.

Some of my trainees are still in the Pac Man era.

They eat everything in sight.

Poor Leaf, probably not getting too much exercise in with Skyrim in his possession

Ha, I'm good. Work, Gym, Skyrim. Everything else though is not getting much attention.
