I thought our OL was going to be all-world this season...wow was I wrong...
They aren't particularly well-organized due to a lack of individual attention. In addition, they are under constant assault because we refuse to throw things to slow down pass rush.

I cannot believe we went empty backfield pass play again, and Vandy of course, sends the house like everyone else has this year.
Come on guys, this play selection is atrcious.

I guess earlier in the season, when news of Joe Haden wanting to take snaps on the offense started to spread, we should've taken that as a hint that the offense would not be as impressive as 2008

So, are we just playing it close to the vest here against an overmatched Vandy team, or are the pre-Georgia offensive problems back?
This is the most confusing season I can remember.
I thought our OL was going to be all-world this season...wow was I wrong...
They have moments of all-stardom but when they get bored even Vandy can tear 'em holes.

I have to admit, I'm a little worried about our guys at this point of the season. I think all the off-the-field stuff and the "fish bowl" effect might be starting to take its toll. These are kids who've been subjected to more media scrutiny and outright hate than any Gator team in history.
I'm just hoping we can make it through these last few games unbeaten and get up for the SECCG.

We will all scratch our heads again Tuesday when 4 o lineman grade champion.
Baffling that they have 4 sacks and we have none.
Baffling that our receivers either can't get open or can't be found.
Baffling that both of our lines are not just completely dominating the trenches although the D is solid as always.
Baffling all the way around.

Vandy's defense is pretty quick. They seem to have little trouble running down our backs. I can see why the offensive coaches want to run it up the middle so much. Probably a bit more misdirection would work as well. We shouldn't have this much trouble with them but they do have some strengths.

I think that's the problem, why can't we scheme against a defense? Find some mismatches instead of running the same obvious stuff all the time, especially in the red zone.
Like that last play, we all know that Nelson can never get open, but he was wide open there because he was able to get behind the defense since they probably thought we were gonna run a pass play. (even though the catch was a fluke from the deflection)

Why does James play so much on offense??? Does anyone get that? Why not Rainey or Demps for pretty much all those plays?
James would be my third choice at best for Percy's plays. He's great but he is really a kick returner. He will not do much against ALA.

I'll take the W.
We scored 28 on these guys in '96 and won by 7.
Need the D to keep up the solid play. Nice job guys.

FSU back up 24 - 21.
Defenses have now taken the night off it seems.
Will they ever be seen again?

This was by far the worst Vandy team we've played this century. This should have been a 40+-0 game.

Ugly, listless, unimaginative and certainly a clarion call for the staff about what this offense will be. Seriously, Tim didn't lose the ability to throw the ball more than eight yards- they're calling bizarre sets that are ill advised.

JIS, I tend to agree, but we can't really do much about it right now during the season. This will have to be an off-season evaluation and change by Meyer, if he makes that change.
I think SA is a great assistant and OL coach, but it just doesn't seem to me like he has any "feel" or tact for the OC position and is just too mechanical in his play selections.
Glad we won, as we weren't really threatened by Vandy at all, but this does tend to leave one frustrated. We should have put 38 - 42 on the board tonight IMO.

I completely agree Gray. You and I both know that there is a reason why you never see an offensive line coach double as the offensive coordinator. He can't give his full attention to either job. We can't pass protect at all and our offense as a whole has no rythm to it whatsoever. That isn't a coincidence.
It looks as if Addazio is over his head calling plays and designing a gameplan so he just keeps going back to the base of the offense as a fallback. Consequently Timmy is stuck running for his life and having to just take the game over every week.
It's what we have to live with for the balance this year and at this point you are what you are. What scares me is the potential for it to eventually bite us. And this team is too good talent wise to be wasted. It would be a shame if that happens.

JIS, I really think we'll be o.k. though.
This team has tremendous pressure on them every week, and it's like the damn CFB media is dumping a turck load of distractions and drama on us every week too, but we keep fighting through it and winning.
This is a tight team with no quit in them.
Close games? Playing flat sometimes? Oh well, we just keep winning.

Besides the lethargy and play calling, the absolute worst thing possible about this game . . . was Bob Davie ohhhing and ahhhhhing about how we are this all world b.s.
I mean, I am UF to the core, but he was watching the same game I was and just went on and on and on and on about first round draft picks (while the sacks rained down), receivers this, receivers that (while we did not stretch the field), Tim probably going to win 2 Heisman's (Tim getting sacked, Tim calling his number, Adz calling Tim's number, etc., etc.). It was sickening.
I am happy for the win, but hope we don't get that crew again.

Not entirely his fault, he used to coach at Notre Dame: he was conditioned to overhype talent from the beginning.

Agreed. There are advantages to winning a lot of close games. When push comes to shove, the team steps it up and is ready. No doubt there. I have to believe that's what Urban loves about this team. They do have tremendous resilience and that's to be commended.
