It's hard to know how good this defense is since we haven't faced a real offense yet. Wow, is the SEC down this year. UGLY football! Only a couple field goals represented legit scores.

Tim Brando was the one who said Bama should be #1. All I can say is, did he not see the Bama-Ole Miss game today? Jevan Snead was practically trying to give Bama touchdowns and they got stuffed by the Ole Miss defense all game long trying to get it in. The UF-LSU and Bama-Ole Miss games were very similar in the fact that both UF and Bama dominated statistically but both our Gators and Bama made uncharacteristic mistakes. The difference was Jordan Jefferson didn't play good but he didn't give UF the game like Jevan Snead gave Bama the game. Both teams are very evenly matched, but I didn't see enough from Bama to justify them jumping us in the polls.

The_Graygator
10-10-2009, 11:19 PM
There wqas the typical horrid, incompetent SEC officiating in this game, and the bad calls went both ways too.
Thing is, we left 13 points on the field.
When Tim is able to get back to a normal practice routine this week, the offense will do better.
Arkansas certaionly doesn't have the defense LSU has anyway, and remember guys, this was THE GAME we were looking at as the possible major blocking point for us this season, and we passed the test and won it.

Oh they have to keep things controversial......they can take this with their let's keep it controversial comments and choke on it....when the National Championship Team comes back with almost every starter and starts the season ranked one...I don't care who you think is "playing" better until the "1" team loses then and only then do they move out of that spot....go away.

Well guys it was fun but I have to find a toilet to go throw up in. LSU defense is for real but the offense is horrid. The O line is inept and Jordan Jefferson reminds me of Aaron Brooks. Florida is a great team. Good luck with the rest of the season!
GatorLaw
10-10-2009, 11:25 PM
We need to change something when we have 1st and goal. I think we had that four times tonight and came away with one missed FG, one failed 4th down attempt, and two FGs. 6 points after having 1st and goal 4 times isn't very good to put it mildly. It was a great win with an incredible defense and I'm thrilled that Tim was able to play the whole game after what he's been through. But you have to think that failing to make a TD with 1st and goal like that is going to catch up with us somewhere along the line.
Judoka
10-10-2009, 11:25 PM
I agree with Gray- having a conservative offensive scheme is fine, provided that it executes effectively. Leaving those points on the field made this a much more tense game than it ever should have been. If it hadn't been for *30 yards* worth of penalties, LSU would have been shut out.

Any SEC win is a good win. An SEC road win is a great win....
However, the call that resulted in the Int with about 5 minutes left was the single stuidest call I've seen a Gator coach do since Doug Dickey did "4th and Dumb" vs UGA in 1976. All we had to do to win the game was.... nothing. Yet, Urb does just about the only thing that could result a loss. A pass.
Inexcusable.
Arky is going to be tough. We never did stop their underneath passing game last year and Smith is one of the best RB's in the conference.

Some of this is on Tim, though. If he doesn't fumble vs UT, we likely win 30-6 and we're not complaining much. If he throws the ball to a wide-open Cooper vs LSU, instead of the LSU defender, we beat LSU 20-3.
On at least two occaision, Tim has squandered 'style points.'

Hours after game: "We only won by 10?!?!?!??!? WTF???!?!?!? Our offense is awful!"
Seriously, we just went and beat the #4 team in the land on the road and the defense played great. And we did so playing a conservative playing style due to our starting QB just coming off of a concussion. No problems here.

A great Win!
I got to admit I was wrong thinking Tim would sit out for the game. I was little nervous for him after two qb hits and hit his forehead onto the ground after a rush in the early 1st half. But he held on by fine... what a warrior he is!
We broke their 34th Saturday night home winning streak at the most hostile environment we have faced and limited their yardage total to 162 including a 44 total in the second half. We couldn't acquire more than our defense side though it was 'more than okay" offense. Also we got a high quality road win despite the final score.
Also that it surprised me that there were only 5 games contained top 5 teams playing each other in last 20 years... all other four games of those the higher ranked teams lost but only Florida revealed. It was announced during the TV game though I wasn't too sure as if they were correct, anybody?
Good job, Gators!!
Next, A-R-K-A-N-S-A-S!

Way to to Gators!! Another unimpressive victory against an over-rated LSU team. It also appears that your choir boy of a quarterback and his coach are gay lovers i.e. the almost makeout session if it weren't for Tebow having his helmet on!!

Have you noticed that opponents have stopped saying they will hurt Tebow????
The last time I checked, the Bucknuts were completely destroyed by both the Gators and the Tigers. I was at the Gator - Bucknut BCS national championship game. No one gave the Gators a chance. BCS = BUCKNUTS CAN'T SCORE.
Some people believe that doing good things for others is the right thing to do. Others think it's a sign of weakness. Query - is it more manly to kill dogs, smash their heads on concrete, destroy them, shoot oneself in the leg, beat one's wife or girlfriend, get arrested or to do good things for other people?
Anyone whose coach wears a sweater vest should not cast aspersions on others.
You know Tebow is a great player when others take the time to call him names!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the win.
Wish I could look forward to a rematch in SECCG but I have low confidence that our offense will improve enough to beat Bama.
Good luck the rest of the way.

 Thanks for the class response. Bama will be a tough opponent for both the Gators and the Tigers.
Best of luck the rest of the season.

Tim Tebow's Scripture for the game:
I Thessalonians 5:18
"Give thanks in all circumstances , for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

Watching the game again right now - this time on Sun Sports Channel. It's amazing how enjoyable it is to watch with professional gamecasters compared to "frick and frack" on CBS!
Go Gators!!!! :yes::yes::yes:

Gary Danielson has the Gator Country posters stamp of approval. Verne, no.

Fell asleep before the first half ended  but it was awesome seeing our running game (Demps & Mooooody) tear through their defense as they did. We do have a great running game which will continue to serve us well through the rest of the season. Loved watching Brandon Spikes level a few Tigers again last night as well.
Agree with you on Danielson - at least he comments on the technical nature of the game, teams, and players.....rather than merely blurting out stuff like Verne. :fuming:
Can't wait 'till this Sat...and Arky.....see you over at that thread
