Correction, Tebow tied Bo Jackson's career TD record with his last rushing TD. Carnel Williams has 46.
Herschel is sitting just 8 away at 53 TD's.

The Gators always substitute regularly because of the depth at every position except TE.
Even when they are in the best shape, you can only expect any given player to perform at a top level for perhaps 35 to 40 plays in any game at the most.
All starters are quite experienced and physically mature. There is no need to concern yourself about the 4th quarter. The ruggedness of the Gator drills makes them tougher than other teams. That is why they destroyed both Alabama and Oklahoma in the 4th quarters of their games last year.

My first half observations:
1) Janoris Jenkins is all over the field. Dude is a player.
2) Riley Cooper is having another great game. Just doing everything you ask of him and more. Love his intensity. The key with him besides staying healthy is being a BIG part of this team against the big boys now. Keep up this level against the big boys!
3) Our RBs with Demps and Rainey and OL are very good. I am pissed Moody cant hold onto the ball because I believe he is the perfect back to mix in.
4) I am deeply concerned about our playmakers on offense particularly at the WR position. We are not deep at WR nor do we have the go to #1 guy. It will take a complete team effort on O to make up for the loss of Percy and Murphy. I would really love to see some of the younger WRs step in and play a role.
5) Our D is damn good. You can see the talent all over the field. They will pull out a game or 2 this year for us when our O is not on its game.

From the way they're talking during the halftime show on the radio, they starters will play most of the third quarter.
We've woken up and played well, but now it's about finishing the game with intensity and blood-thirsty vengeance IMO.
We have 'em down, now put a foot on their throats and stamp down real hard.

My observations:
I like the new Gator Nation commercial. Very classy.
I am not happy with our special teams thus far. Especially the short kickoffs. Is it the rain that prevents Sturgis from a full run before the kick? Is it coach's orders to keep it in play? Does he just not have the leg to consistently place it at or in the endzone?

Rawpimple
09-12-2009, 02:25 PM
Our offense is going to have to run teams into the ground with our OL and quick backs. Come second half that is when I expect Tebow and the O to put up more points. It has to be tough as a defense to go up against our O-line and quick backs for an entire game.
If we are to go undefeated our defense will be key. Our O will struggle at times. We just dont have the WR or the depth at WR to throw it all over teams. It is our D and special teams that our undefeated season rests on. They need to bring it every week during the SEC season. We definitely have the talent on D to do it.

MY THOUGHTS.
Glad the internet allowed me to watch this game...shaky start, bad weather gummin up the works....but our superiority on all fronts became evident by the second quarter. TT lead the charge, as he should, and the team followed. Defense is what I expect it to be. I would like to see some more pressure on the QB, but as someone mentioned im guessing we are holding back our more advanced packages for next weaks slaughter.
Im very concerned with DT injury...2 TD catches after bad start, i hope hes ok for next week cuz u can tell Tebow and the team has confidence in him ( and so do i). Cooper is a legit #1 WR now we need another one to step up.
I hope our straters get 1 or 2 more series, then turn it over to the newbies to get some quality reps ...get moo the ball, everyone is fumbling it, lets not kill the guy just yet...

You must realize Zpiff, that Leopards are almost always BLPs (Backward Looking People). As a result, they tend to be very Rule Bound.
Those of us who look at things relative to their context (the game is out of hand, lets get it over with and only call penalties that might cause injuries), have a difficult time understanding the thinking of BLPs.

Oh well, a good outing by the Gators after a slow first quarter, and then is was domination city by the Gators, but the wet conditions did make the ball hard to hold on to today.
VERY impressed by the Gator D today.
I think UF had around 650 yards of total yards of offense and held troy to less than 130.
The Gator D has yet to allow a TD yet this season.

Because it's something that will be on the minds of players now. Meyer will make sure to hammer it through their heads this week leading up into SEC play that they can't do that against quality opponents.

I'm pleased, not trying to focus on the negatives. We obviously need to protect the ball and pull our heads out of our butts, but I thought our offense looked good once it got in rhythm and our defense played great today. Personally, I loved how Dustin Doe came out and made the first tackle on the opening kickoff. You've got to be pleased when you see someone in his position come out and establish his focus early on. He was like 3 inches from coming away with an INT on what seemed to be Troy's longest pass play of the game.

Good to get the fumbles out the teams system against Troy early in the season instead of them happening against Tennessee.
Fumbles lost the game vs Ole Miss last year.

What I saw today was a team that is focused and once they get going, is hard to stop.
Last year, they were sluggish and couldn't click. Things seem much different through the first two games and i'm very pleased. I'm expecting a very solid week of practice and for UF to be focused and ready for Kiffin and Co. to come to town.
Go Gators!

Amazingly enough, we rout a competitive opponent in Troy (a LOT better than Western Kentucky), and all I read is complaining. Games aren't always going to be perfect guys.
There were wet, drizzling field conditions out there today and the ball was slippery for both teams.
I like that we had to play against some adversity and got challenged today. Troy has a pretty good spread offense, and we held them to 8 first downs and 139 total yards, 1 less than we held a talented Miami team to last year in Game #2.
UF had 663 total yards and 34 first downs today. We averaged 6 yards per carry in the run-game and just under 300 yards rushing. Our offense is very, very scary once it gets going. They look a lot like OU's last year.
The Gator O is averaging 59 ppg.
The Gator D is allowing only 4.5 ppg.
DE Jermaine Cunningham played an incredible game today.
AJ Jones was all over the field today too.
Tebow tied Bo Jackson's career TD rushing record at 45 rushing TD's.
Deonte Thompson shook off he dropsies and caught two great TD passes.
Omarius Hines has stepped up as a gamer for us to bolster WR depth.
Rainey looks to be an extremely dangerous threat for us after a year of experience and development.
We got out of this without any serious injuries.
And on top of all that, we played a bunch of reserves again and built on the depth we developed in the first game.
We needed this game and we did well.
As far as I'm concerned, bring on the Vols.
I have a lot of confidence that we can wear them down with our defense and depth.

Where is Moody? They really should give him some reps.
on the bench, where he'll be for the rest of the season.

Yeah, but you were complaining too, Gray.

Yeah, but you were complaining too, Gray.
I was complaining about some bad plays and a couple of BS calls, not basically talking about how much we "suck" or alleging it.

Just about everyone was complaining about the offense in the 1st quarter and rightfully so.

I'm just so glad the preseason is over. Troy looked downright awful.
