Sources: TE Reed to enter NFL Draft

Jordan Reed will play his final college game on Wednesday, according to sources.

The Florida Gators’ redshirt junior tight end is expected to declare for the 2013 NFL Draft, according to a family member. GatorCountry.com reporter Andrew Spivey also confirmed this news through a team source.

Reed is a 6-foot-3, 243-pounder from New London, Conn., who played quarterback early in his career. He has led the Gators in receptions the past two seasons. He has 44 catches for 552 yards and three touchdowns this season after finishing with 28 receptions for 307 yards and two touchdowns in 2011.

Florida coach Will Muschamp was asked Wednesday about his team’s situation at tight end in 2013. He declined comment, admitting he has thought about next season, but adding that he wanted to stay focused on Wednesday’s Sugar Bowl game against Louisville.

The Gators should be in solid shape at tight end next season with Clay Burton and Tevin Westbrook returning as well as Kent Taylor and Colin Thompson, two of the top tight ends in the country in the Class of 2013.

The website nfldraftscout.com has Reed ranked as the No. 3 tight end in the 2013 draft class while another site, walterfootball.com, has Reed listed as the No. 4 tight end while noting “the former quarterback is still developing at tight end and should return for his senior season.”
