Tennessee commit Aaron Beasley sees playing time at Florida

On Saturday night the Florida Gators hosted Tennessee safety commit Aaron Beasley (6-0, 220, Franklin, GA. Heard County) on a visit for the Kentucky game.

This was the first time for Beasley to visit Florida and he walked impressed by the Gators defensive scheme.

“The defense flew around to the ball, I like the way they play,” Beasley said on what he liked about the defense on Saturday night. “I like Coach [Todd] Grantham’s scheme and I like how they play.”

Beasley who committed to Tennessee in June hasn’t taken any visits since he committed to them but he explained why he decided to visit Gainesville on Saturday.

“Just look at the options,” he said on why he decided to visit Florida on Saturday. “Just see how it is down here, like I said it’s my first time down here so I just wanted to see what Dan Mullen is doing down here.”

While watching the game, Beasley noticed a big need at his position and he thinks he can provide help for the Gators secondary.

“Yeah, in the secondary,” Beasley said on if he sees a need at Florida. “Because they’re real thin, and they really don’t have many players at the safety spot.”

Beasley got a chance to speak to the coaching staff on Saturday night and they had a simple message to him about needing him and what Florida can provide for him.

“Just that you get a good education here,” he said on the message from the coaches to him. “And just that it’s family here and I’ll be a Gator for life if I come here. And that I got a chance to play and help them out.”

The Gators have a connection to Beasley, as he was high school teammates with freshman quarterback Emory Jones who has been talking to the Tennessee commit.

“We’ve been texting, I will probably stay with him tonight [Saturday],” Beasley said on if he’s been talking to his former teammate Emory Jones. “He loves it down here, this is my first time here and I like it. I like the gameday atmosphere.”

Next up for Beasley is likely an official visit to another school and then he knows two other schools that he would like to visit going forward.

“I’m probably going to take an official visit to Nebraska on the 29th,” Beasley said on official visits. “I might take an official here [Florida] and Florida State.”

Despite the visit to Gainesville and other visits planned, Beasley says he’s still committed to Tennessee.

“I’m still strong on Tennessee,” he said on his commitment status to Tennessee. “This is my first time visiting another school since I don’t know, but I’m still strong to Tennessee.”

Beasley however did say the Gators helped themselves on Saturday night because of two coaches on the Florida staff.

“They fit good,” Beasley said on where Florida fits in after Tennessee. “Like I said, I like Dan Mullen and I like Coach Grantham’s scheme. I like my chances with playing time here.”
