Women’s tennis: No. 1 Florida at USF

The University of Florida women’s tennis team gets back into the swing on Tuesday against South Florida at 4 p.m at Linder Stadium. The top-ranked Gators are coming off a big 5-2 win at the No. 5 Baylor Bears.

The Gators (3-0) are 49-1 all-time against USF (3-1). The last time these two teams faced-off was on last February in Gainesville. The Gators won 5-2. The only time Florida lost against USF was on on April Fools Day in 1986. The Gators fell to the Bulls 5-3 in Tampa.

The Gators have several streaks on the line in this match. They are riding a 24-game winning streak, which is seventh best in school history. They have 12 straight wins against their fellow Floridian competitors. The home-court advantage has been in effect for the club as they have a 97-game winning streak at home. Although for the regular season, it’s 104 straight wins. At home, the Gators are 430-25 overall.

Junior Allie Will is closing in on earning her 100th singles victory. Will has 91 wins in her career with only 10 losses. She is second in team history in winning percentage, only behind Gator Great Lisa Raymond (84-4).
