The No. 18 Florida Gators are opening up their 2012 season with hosting the Campus USA Credit Union Invitational this weekend in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. FIU, Florida A&M and Florida Gulf Coast are the teams that are competing against the Gators for the tournament title.

Florida takes on the Florida International Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Friday night, Florida A&M at noon on Saturday and then wraps up the Invitational Saturday night against Florida Gulf Coast at 7:30 p.m.

“Since it’s so early in the season we don’t have much information on other teams,” senior middle blocker Betsy Smith said. “We don’t know if they have injuries or what their line ups are even going to be. We really don’t have film on them either because they haven’t played so it’s just going to be a lot about coming out, competing and having fun with our teammates.”
