ShareVolleyball ready for huge weekend
The No. 13 Florida Gators volleyball team (17-3, 10-1 SEC) heads to Knoxville, Tenn., on Friday night to take on No. 20 Tennessee Lady Volunteers (18-3, 11-1 SEC) for the second half of conference play. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m. in Thompson-Boling Arena.
The Gators will be fighting for the SEC East top seed, which the Lady Vols currently hold. The last time the teams faced each other, Tennessee came out on top, winning a five-set thriller (21-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-19, 16-18) in the Stephen C O’Connell Center.
“There was major disappointment but it was understood that Tennessee outplayed us,” Florida head coach Mary Wise said. “When you play against a very talented team, the margin of error is very small, so some mistakes we could get away with against lesser opponents, we could do so. But against the likes of Tennessee and Kentucky, there is just no room for error.”
